Can’t really see the appeal of it myself.
I mean, sure, it's a Curb-Stomp Battle in Ganondorf's favour, especially with the TotK iteration, but... two of gaming's most infamous villainous red-haired Hades Shaded Blood Knights with evil energy powers duking it out?

I’ll admit, I also don’t see too much appeal in it as a match in of itself. As a fight, however, I think it could be cool to see. I just have other opponents I’d like to see either fight instead.
Did Kazuya kick Akuma's ass so hard he aged him or something.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Street Fighter 6 is set some years after III on the timeline whereas Street Fighter V takes place some time before III — in 1996, according to the wiki.
Going by Sean's date of birth, III takes place in 1997 and 3rd Strike in 1998; while some theories posit 6 takes place in the mid-2000s, so... yeah, Akuma just got old.

The comparison here is that they both have red hair?
I mean, if that's the case we can just have Ganondorf fight Dr. Eggman.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I always thought Akuma would be better off fighting someone like...I dunno, either Yujiro Hanma or maybe even Kaido.
Yujiro is my preference. Yujiro is definitely biting the dust there, but it’s Yujiro so can’t feel all too bad about it. That said, Yujiro has dozens of potential opponent picks, so even if not Akuma, there’s plenty to go with.
Akuma's main opponent for another episode in the community is Raoh from what I've seen.
As for Ganondorf, Tears of the Kingdom Pushed people into Ganon vs Darth Vader, since that made the match alot more viable.
Conceptually, I like the idea of Ganondorf VS Odio, being constantly reincarnating incarnations of evil across time, and having a lot of fun potential in different Odio incarnations facing off against different variations of Ganondorf.
Ganondorf is getting absolutely smoked there though.
That’s his most popular match yeah, and it seems fun. I’m just not too knowledgeable on FF, at least not the entries where he’s super relevant.

Generally when I hear Odio get brought up in the DB space he’s put up against Garland/Chaos
I think it would be cool if it started out as Garland vs. Odio, escalated to Chaos vs. Pure Odio, and then eventually ends with Jack Garland vs. Oersted.
It's been 3000 years…Jack Garland isn't actually the same Garland from FF 1, so sadly that doooesn't really work.
Yeah, I really fuck with Garland vs. Odio as a fight.
How about Storm from X-Men vs Weather Report from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure?
Here's a question for you guys, maybe a bit controversial or not.
What is something you simply absolutely hate seeing a VS debate? Like you know you are gonna see it eventually and it just annoys you to all hell, probably just kills the debate.
Me, whenever someone just says "X is Universal" which just poisons the well for me honestly. Don't get me wrong, some characters can and have scaled to that... just when it's used on a character like Naruto, that's when you're either grasping for straws, or intentionally causing trouble.

Excuse me. o_o
(2)
I too fuck with this as a fight.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).So, since Rooster Teeth is closing down, what's going to happen to Death Battle? Or is Death Battle already owned by someone else?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!We don’t know. They’ve mentioned going indie is off the table and they’re in talks right now. it’s a case of wait and see.
X4 Ignorance of the fact that power scales ruins on Author fiat?
More seriously, it's likely the conflation of different incarnations if the same character. Like for example YMMV.Demonbane's Common Knowledge entry mentions people brining up two abilities of the titular mech...expect they were used in different mutually exclusive versions from each other.
For example 2: Superman. If you wanna claim he has punched out a star, using abilities from other version besides All-Star is going to be disingenuous.
For example 3: Altria "Saber" Pendragon. That specific character has at least three alternate counterparts that could be considered their own character. One has a bone to pick with her doppelgangers and the Saber class, one is a fairy and more of a mage with a defensive lean and only has the sword as mage craft, and the last is a literal goddess that only became such after parting with the sword. To claim that normal Altria has the abilities og any of those three for the purposes of vs debates is just verging on sophistry at this point. (even if it's technically possible)

I guess for me when it comes to versus debates, my biggest bugbear is whenever people make judgments about other works solely due to power levels and stuff. Like, someone's never even seen a show, but they dismiss it as crap just because of how a character or series sounds in a versus context.
So, it'd be like "Oh, so-and-so is multiversal tier? What fucking trash! Never watching that show. How can the writers make a good story with someone with powers that broken? Just more 'my-universe-is-bigger-than-your-universe' garbage!"
And meanwhile the character they're talking about is like Woody Woodpecker or something.
Dead Horse here. My vote is when a character wins a match because of a scaling chain. Excaliber beating Raiden.
And my second vote is for the terms
- outerversal/hyperversal
- continent/planet/universe/multiverse level
- 2 to 10 Dimensional
- Immeasurable speed
- no diff/low diff/negs/claps/cucks
I genuinely want to find or start a community that likes to discuss who would win, but abandons this terminology and the more toxic subredditors/Youtubers who use it.
Now, things I look forward to?
- Danny Phantom vs Jake Long. I get to relive a show I watched as a kid and learn about one I missed.
- Red vs Blue. Hey I know these characters!
- Alex vs Cole. Well its about time.
- "We measured the entire weight of ancient China to figuew out how hard Aang can bend."

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Though sometimes scaling debates can make a work sound uninteresting. The debates are done out of context after all.
It is funny when the work in question doesn't care about scaling.
x a bunch, my biggest bugbear (what a wonderful word. Bugbear. 10/10,) is lazy power-scaling ("X fought Y once so X must be capable of literally everything that Y can do, and probably everything that anyone who Y has ever fought can also do,") and also taking feats out of context ("Here's Raven fighting Spectre, and Phoenix losing to a Green Tiger God!" Completely ignoring that in the very next panels Phoenix immediately turns the tables on Green Tiger God, while Raven is swiftly overpowered and exclaims "He's too strong! I can't hold him back!"), and also also, it's not quite as bad, but any time that two characters are universal but due to differing cosmologies, one of their universes is bigger and therefore they are stronger, that kind of feels cheap sometimes. Understandable, but it's not a very satisfying win-con.
I don't see the appeal in Akuma VS Ganondorf, but I have to wonder... would the Raging Demon work on Ganondorf?

NGL, I still wanna see
vs.
(Although the comparison isn't as apt now that Akuma's gone grey.)
