When writing in Arabic, I usually break off the tip of my pencil against something so that it's more or less flat, which does help a bit.

All you have to do is write on the edge/side of the tip more or less to get your chisel tip, you don't necessarily have to break the pencil.

Hm, all of these examples are very over-the-top. Also, the roman alphabet can do some of these things, it just isn't done very often. Just do a Google Image Search on Calligram.

As if the Arabic script doesn't already look beautiful by itself, people just have to go and embellish it and twist it into all of these complex and perplexing designs and even form them into pictures and make it look EVEN MORE AMAZING.
