Fanfic Recommendations Thread

Require a Firefly Original Flavour fic that isn't Forward. I found it a little flat and lifeless.

I'm in need of a good fanfic of a classic novel, such as Jane Eyre, Hamlet, or One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.

Fanfics of classic videogames (Doom, Castlevania, Tales of Fantasia, Street Figter, etc.) or anime would also be very welccme. Original Flavour greatly desired.

I don't know if you would consider Silent Hill 2 old enough to be "classic", but There She Goes is remarkably Original Flavour to me.

I remember this The Legend Of Zelda Ocarina Of Time fanfic: Time Travel Drag Kings and Why I Hate Hormones being pretty freaking hilarious. It also basically just follows the events of the game so it's pretty Original Flavor.

Fanfic based in the universe of Final Fantasy Type-0 would be very welcome. Bonus points if the main pairing is yuri/shoujo-ai.

Looking for a fanfic that you would argue is "True Art". Doesn't necessarily have to be well written, just want to know if you think there even is one.

After being asked to trope it and scouring the text for tropes, I'd like to recommend the Yugioh The Abridged Series fanfic, Decks Fall, Everyone Dies.

Now, most people probably don't even care about Moulin Rouge after 2003 (I certainly didn't think about it until I read this story), but this isn't just a change-the-names, add different songs, run-of-the-mill Film Fic. You might not even have to see the film to understand it (all I did to trope it was look at the tvtropes and Wikipedia pages).

This person not only seems to be trying to fix the plot errors in Moulin Rouge, but they've actually adapted the plot to the Yu-Gi-Oh universe (well, the abridged universe, anyway). And they've made it more about the political events than some boring old romance (but the politics are based on card/dice games). And they've written their own filk/parody songs that actually relate to the plots events, instead of ripping off other songs. And I think they actually succeeded in making it funny (or, sparingly using references to the Abridged series to supplement the humor). And I think it actually makes sense, which would be hard to do with a story like this.

They even found a way to add depth to the Duke's character. In the movie, he was just a 2D cartoon villain, but here, he actually seems to have some sort of reason to his actions and background (as much background as you can have when you're in a fic based on a gag dub, anyway).

I haven't watched much Yu-Gi-Oh lately, but the characters' personalities seemed consistent, so that's a good sign.

I don't know if it's True Art, but it's worth at least a try.

I'd like to see a good crossover with the Phyrexians (preferably new) invading another setting, like Harry Potter. Or really, any fiction involving villainous robots seeing humans little more than just a collection of parts ready to be harvested for better purposes. Suggestions?

I'd like to read a good crossover fic with David Weber's Dahak universe.

If you ever wanted a Bleach fanfic that deconstructs the holy hell out of badfic/fanfic tropes, then I shall point you towards ''Bleach: Fan Works''. I really want to launch a page for this one.

I would like to read a very good fanfic set in the transformers prime continuity, no OC's please unless they stay mainly in the background. If it has Knock-out or Starscream in it that would be even better.

For anyone who likes the Warhammer 40000 setting, check out The Shape Of The Nightmare To Come and The Age Of Dusk, it's a massive fan world-building project that involves continuing 40k's setting for 15,000 years.

I need some good fanfiction in German. Or any literature available to read free online. It's the most convenient way for me to look up words quickly. And, well, it would be nice if it were good. I'm not asking for Shinji and 40K or Fallout Equestria tier here, but something awesome and cool would be great.

German authors... well, I read and enjoyed The Divine Comedian's 'Plogveihze, Baby' in English (it was remarkably close to Original Flavour Pratchett - an impressive feat), and since she's apparently a native German-speaker, those fics in her own language are likely to also be good.

Soooooooo, now that it's been a couple months, can anyone point me in the direction of a good/decent Mass Effect 3 fix fic? one that doesn't invalidate most of what happened, but DOES make the horrible, horrible ending go away?

Anyone know of any good Samurai Deeper Kyo fanfics? I don't think I've ever found one. Crossovers are okay. If it helps to narrow it down, my favourite characters are Akira, Bon-chan, Benitora, [[nostalgicfangirlmoment]] Yukimura-sama~ [[/nostalgicfangirlmoment]], Yuan and his family, Sasuke, and that hot, terribly short-lived sonofabitch Taihaku.

I recall that once, way back in the internet, there was a site collecting (and asking for) System Shock / anything crossovers. Ones I remember include Fallout, Star Trek, Star Wars, Command And Conquer, and one of the Gundams. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I absolutely recommend this fanfic. It's gearing up to be very interesting.
