First off, let me say that I know we have several rather large Fan Fic Recommendations pages already. However, they're for the general stuff, the best of the best for a fandom in its entirety. This thread is for the more specific requests.

For instance, I'd like to see a 'Butt-Monkey gets his day' fic (fandom irrelevant) where the character in question does not immediately get replaced with some sort of generic, cardboard Bad Ass, and retains some of the personality flaws that made him/her such a lovable loser in the first place. As an illustrative example, I'd prefer a Neville Longbottom fic where the kid was still an insecure, clumsy teenager with bearings of solid steel, or a Bang Shishigami story where he's still a meatheaded, overenthusiastic idiot with a genuinely good heart. You follow?

Anyways, feel free to post your own requests, and the rest of us will see what we can do to help.

An alternate viewpoint on Deathly Hallows. Other than DAYD, because I fell hard for that, but then I came to the rude awakening that it was sexist, overly gritty, OOC tripe. But, say, some random Order member. Hestia Jones, still babysitting the Dursleys while the world collapses around her. Something like that.

EDIT: You know what? I'm not going to get involved in this thread. Fanfiction basically took over my life for the past two years. I'm gonna stay clean.

If it's not to much trouble I would like to recommend the works of fanfiction.net author Paul Xion. A good number of his works are large, popular and cover a wide variety of categories.

Yeah. just basically don't use forums much so I'm not sure where to go. This fic deserves it though. At least for it's catagory

I'm not sure if you would consider The Shocker a butt monkey, but this story is one of my all time favorites. He goes through a Heel–Face Turn and also there are zombies.

I hate quotes. Tell me what you know- Anonymous

Read that one. In fact, that was the sort of thing I was objecting to. Too much awesome, too fast. Particularly regarding him single-handedly catalysing a group Heel–Face Turn by most of Marvel's villains.

I prefer stuff that's a little more low-key, and feels a little more... well, natural.

Fanfic about Dragon Ball, Bleach, One Piece or Naruto (in that order of preference) that are rich in Original Flavour. It's a little broad I know, but I really don't know many good fan fics.

I'd like to recommend Kitsune on Campus, a Naruto/Negima crossover. For first few chapters, it's basically copying the canon Negima with few changes but once the first arc is over, character interactions become more original and hell lot more interesting. Definitely worth checking out.

[up] Oh. Well, damn. Well, I recommend it; it gets real good after first few volumes and fanservice fodder-ing decreases as volumes go on and focuses more and more on awesome action scenes that later looks like something out of Gurren Lagann.

Actually, you would only have to read up to volume 10, because that's where the fanfic plot is right now.

Ooh, Negima is Mahou Sensei Negima! I'd been sort of interested in checking it out, just by reading about it on trope pages here. I'm still trying to power through Berserk and Pokemon Special, but Negima is definitely on my to-read list. If I enjoy it, I'll be sure to check out that fanfic you linked, thank you very much grin

^First two volumes of Berserk kinda suck, but it rewards you big time if you stick with it.

For a Harry Potter Peggy Sue Parody fic, look no further than Oh God, Not again!

It's an extremely hilarious yet analyctic fic that lampshades and humorously plays every single Fridge Logic from the canon and runs with it. It's easily one of the most hilarious fics EVER, and is good for an easy read because it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Anything for Inu Yasha, that has Original Flavour or good Alternate Character Interpretation — especially of Kouga or of Inuyasha's father?

I've already read (and greatly enjoyed) Jedi Hanyou's Mother, Hentai Jane's March Winds, and Becky Tailweaver's The White Dog.

Thanks!

(Good Berserk fanfiction would also be welcome. I should mention I started the series at Volume 13, and have gone back. I love it.)

Giving a shout out to the finely-crafted Tolkienesque It's A Dangerous Business, Going Out Your Door, the grim and sweeping Fallout: Equestria and its more personal side-story Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons. All three are worthy of your time, even if you're not fussed about the pony.

Giving a shout out to Cornova's gritty Pokémon war stories, aptly titled Poke Wars. Well, to be technical, they are actually a compilation of four stories...

Dazzling action sequences and well developed characters pretty much seal the deal for me.

Even if you aren't all that into Pokémon, the deep plot and high octane action sequences will hold your interest.
