@Miijhal: Hedera is now at level 9, so it may not be necessary to pull out your higher-leveled character and help me with grinding. Although, I am going to be out of town for a few days, so...

The song that plays in the lobby is awesome and I want to find it on Youtube.

Which does suck, I wanted to minmax! :(

But yeah. I just find the grind, and the travel-times, really boring. I always end up leveling Herbalism and Alchemy just to pass the time while I'm traveling.

I've played it a fair amount, getting one character to maxlevel and a few others pretty high up. I think part of the issue is that World Of Warcraft isn't really optimized for solo play, very much. The point to almost all long-term players is multi-player encounters; either dungeons or raids, for cooperative multi-player, or battlegrounds and arenas, for competitive multi-player.

The game is one of the least customizable partly because it's so competitive between human players; keeping game balance would be (even more) impossible. (Granted, it's pretty impossible already, with that many classes and subclasses and the like).

A brighter future for a darker age.

Which I find just annoying.

But then, I guess, it is an MMORPG... Not an RPG.

I don't really care for online multiplayer games.

I'd rather play with people I know.

And also I am poor and cannot afford monthly fees.

What Zudak said. Hey, wanna play some MGO, Z?

@last page:

Bah! You all know what I mean. Besides, you're missing the point—which is that Zun is crazy to charge that much for the games. Dude, Zun, it shouldn't surprise you that there are more people who make fancruft off of your games than people who actually PLAY your games—the latter are too expensive!

Fuck that shit, straight up Kenta Cho for me.

Oh yes. How dare ZUN charge money for these games he ours literally weeks of his life into with no other source of repayment. That bastard.

I don't mind him charging money. I just mind him charging forty freaking dollars to buy a PC shmup when there are other shmups with more refined gameplay.

I am pretty sure most new CAVE shmups and most every shmup on Steam goes for cheaper.

Then... don't buy them?

Buy those better schmups instead?

If you don't wanna spend $40 on them, don't.

Just consider, the reason he may be forced to jack the prices this high is because he wasn't making enough money at lower prices.

Sigh. Fair enough.

I'm just sadface because I'm going to Sakuracon this year and was considering buying one of the Touhou games if someone was selling them there.

...The sad thing is $40 is probably cheap by the standards of the merch that gets sold at anime cons.

Eh. Maybe if I have some moolah leftover in my budget.

Pirating them is most likely the reason he's been forced to jack up the price to $40.

@Charles: Oh, come on, mate. At least you don't have to pay the damn shipping nor the conversion to dollars. But, well, you can always save money or something.

MOST LIKELY THE OTHER REASON HE JACKED UP THE PRICE

Japan is ZUN's target audience, not America.

He doesn't even try to make his games available over here, I don't think.

Eh, whatever. I don't even play the games at all anymore.

I think Zun could probably make it in the big(ger) leagues if he, I dunno, completely redid touched up the art or something and distributed through Steam or the like.

@Zudak: Oh, okay then. I do think I remember now that the only official way to get the games is buying them in person at Comiket. Bleah.

I'd rather play with people I know.

Hence playing with my girlfriend. And because her hometown isn't somewhere I can easily visit, I'll probably meet her best friend on World Of Warcraft before I meet her in person.

And also I am poor and cannot afford monthly fees.

Which is why I'm only going to play in the summer, when I work full time and don't have school to worry about. Huzzah for summer.

Yeah, no, I'm just being silly.

ZUN is on record as telling people that if they want the games, they should just pirate them.

The only reason the prices are so high is that essentially, anybody who buys it isn't buying it- it's pretty much just a donation directly to ZUN, to help him support himself.
