Same with Stand Alone Complex. Same with Neon Genesis Evangelion.

See, I saw Two Thousand One as a kid. I guess I got started early and learned to think about movies outside the box.

Oh, and Higurashi...Higurashi is like this.

And then it's like this.

@Malk:

Sora No Woto is better than both of them anyway.

Malk: I am not an Otaku. Or anything close to one.

Charly: HIGH FIVE.

Though actually, Standalone Complex did confuse me, but I have the valid excuse of watching it muted at 5AM.

also: THEFT!

Speaking of otaku has any one watched that America's Greatest Otaku Show? I saw half of one episode.

The guy who started Tokyo Pop selects six interns to go to all the anime cons in the US to find America's Greatest Otaku.[1]

Spain: Irrelevant. It's still blatantly and shameless pandering to ronery otakus.

I am watching like eight new anime shows right now. Some of them I'm not sure why I'm watching.

Charlie: I am curious about what GITS:SAC makes it underwhelming for you? What were you expecting out of curiosity?

I have enjoyed Cowboy Bebop, The Newere Hellsing Anima, Gasaraki, With Hunter Robin, The Last Exiles (Whoo Hoo Airships!), and number of other anime.

I was however dissapointed in the Berserk Anime especially after I got my hands on the manga.

Well, now I'm curious to what everyone is watching right now. For currently airing stuff: (Note, this is in order of favorite to least favorite)

@Tuefel: We're working with information technology, new forms of communication, and all sorts of sociological and technological innovations here on my campus. Suffice it to say Ghost In The Shell is a very quaint view of the future based on what I've learned.

Or in short, I have enjoying science fiction because of technology plodding forward.

Also, the Major the character designers had dubious fashion sense. tongue

It's not about stereotypes, Spain. It's about the intent of the show. It's blatantly clear that she's made to pander to the desires of otaku. I'm not saying everyone who watches Lucky Star is a creepy fucker with a Konata full-body pillow. I'm simply saying that it's made with that demographic in clear mind.

It failed to confuse me. On an allegorical level I guess it did, but the plot is pretty followable, if not exactly coherent.

I have not been confused about a plot in ages. Sure, I've been a bit baffled about the point of some of the more obtuse imagery, but in general I understand everything. A bit boring.

I like cyber punk in general and enjoyed GITS:SAC. The thing that was most fascinating was the cyberization and all the things that come with it. Yeah motoko's fashion sense is very odd but hey she makes it work.

Okay, I understand why this annoys you but can you take it elsewhere? I don't really care about the intended audience. I watch it because sitcoms are funny, and dammit, I like bright colors okay?

Gawd.

Zyx: I consider it one of the best anime I've ever seen, actually. Even if the director was a massive dick.

@Tuefel: Fair enough. (Also, you'd think personal firearms in Ghost in the Shell would be a bit more sophisticated than what they show.)

Nanoha for me occupies a rung somewhere between Guilty Pleasure and genuinely awesome.

And Outlaw Star...Oh God Outlaw Star. I like it more than Cowboy Bebop for some reason.

@Spain: Wait, the director of Lain is a dick?
