Is it something L would never do, or could never do? Can't he fake social niceties but usually just doesn't?
I finished this and Sharin no Kuni little while ago, and I really liked both of them. It's an interesting contrast between the two, as G-Senjou no Maou is more of a love story and Sharin no Kuni is more a story about society. Does anyone know if any of akabeisoft2's other work has been translated? I checked vndb, but it doesn't look like it...
G-Senjou is more about revenge and crime than romance, I'd say.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.mmm, I don't think so. I'd say the major theme in all the routes (can't actually speak for tsubaki's, because I still haven't got around to doing that one) is sorta "love redeems". In Kanon and Mizuha's routes, the whole Maou plot is prettymuch ditched, so while there's still some crime going in the backround, what with Yuki on the run and Kanon's judging being rigged, both routes are about the two heroines forgiving their family members... and hooking up with Kyōsuke. So crime and revenge arn't really a big part of those two routes.
In Usami's route crime still isn't really the focus of the story. I don't believe it's ever really explored as a theme. Revenge is definitely big, but it's really Maou who's out for revenge. Kyōsuke hated Usami for what her dad did, but his motivation was more "become so powerful that noone can hurt me again" rather than Maou's "Make the people who did this to my father pay". I would argue that Usami's route basiclly has two different stories: Kyōsuke's story is about love all the way through, and Maou's, which is about giving up everything for revenge and being left with nothing. Since Kyōsuke is the main character, I'm going to stick with my assertion about the vn as a love story

It's about both. And it's not as simple as 'love redeems' either because while it was the single point of stability for Usami, it was also the motivation for Maou. It's more like 'Love can redeem, but it can also burn you. Love isn't safe and pretty. Love is powerful and dangerous.'
Number 1 Rule of Literature: Interpretation.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.I'll concede to both those points.
The endings split off at pretty obvious points. The order is Tsubaki, Kanon, Mizuha, Usami. Usami is the main heroine and the only one that actually completes the story.
Yeah, G-Senjou is interesting since the ordering is pretty important. Also, can I say that's it's just a tad bit AWESOME.
Yeah, G Senjou No Maou has a huge deficiency in lameness.
I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.I once drew a graph of this VN's Holy Shit Quotient against time. When I got up to Chapter 5, my graph broke the ceiling.
I just finished Tsubaki's chapter (I think? I seem to be missing one more event, though). A couple of things that I want to comment about:
- Were they really trying to hide "Maou"'s identity? I kinda figured it out easily enough.
- The kidnapping arc! Holy shit, that left me really rushed and... kinda conflicted on what to feel about the characters involved. Especially the perpetrator. That was so far my favorite part of the whole thing.
- I loved the way Tsubaki's and Kyousuke's characters developed in her arc.
- Related to that, this is the first time that I've felt so conflicted about rooting for a protagonist.
- Usami is so... <3. I can't wait to get to her arc.
Yes, the game isn't very subtle about its Maou hints, is it?
Usami is great indeed.
Oh, and the event you're missing comes from the bad end I think. Where you break her. You bastard.
Ah, I'm pretty sure it has been asked, but does Maou's identity retroactively changes to Kyousuke if you go into any route other Usami's? For being the titular character, he seems to play almost no part at all in the other routes.
I prefer to think not. You're obviously led to believe that it's Kyousuke and since that's a dramatic reveal later on they just leave you with that impression without stating it outright. This does lead to the amusing conclusion where Maou calls off the whole hell on Earth thing because he fell in love in Kanon's route.
Everyone loves Usami.
Agreed.
Fuck the TV Tropes page on this. I've been had! -____-
I finished Kanon's route yesterday. I couldn't stand her mother. At all. And so much figure skating trivia, which is interesting and all, but I kinda wish they continued with Maou's plot. Then again, it's going to be continued in Usami's route, so meh.
also, I found Kanon's scenes to be hot
MAL || vndb || BlogWhat's up?
And I despised her mother too.
I wasn't spoil and I didn't figure out. The reveal was glorious. Thus, why you avoid the sh*t out of the tvtropes pages of things you haven't read.
Especially Ever17.
The best way to read Ever17 for the first time is to shut off the internet until you finish playing, because with Ever17, everything is a spoiler.

I write pretty good fanfiction, sometimes.Including hair colour.
Remember, Kyousuke is... not exactly the most receptive person to romantic advances, which was probably the biggest hindrance toward Usami being his girlfriend.
