First off, I remember when the Patreon started and everyone thought it meant this webcomic would update more often than whenever the planets aligned.

Second off, after re-reading the second volume I'm starting to wish Rocky didn't get the head wound. Because it can explain any and all future evils Rocky can make, and I would have rather seen Rocky go more unhinged on his own due to the situation, or a reveal of just how evil and manipulative he is when everything is at its lowest.

The Official Lackadaisy Youtube channel currently has two livestreams/podcasts called "Lackadaisy Shop" where they interview animators and people behind the short.

Freckle looks even more adorable in that animated style.

Short animated film adaptation trailer, looks pretty neat.

Reviving this thread since the Lackadaisy short premieres 3 hours from now. Can't wait to finally see these characters in motion after a decade of re-reading the original webcomic.

The short film for Lackadaisy has just arrived. Notably, the title of the video says Pilot, so there might be more shorts released in the futre.

Personal thoughts, aside from seeing some outlines on the characters faces at certain points, the animation overall was fantastic. The characters were also really entertaining and likable, which is helped by the great voice cast. I also really enjoyed the electro-swing style music as it's very catchy and fits the short to a T. Overall, I really enjoyed this and would highly recommend giving it a watch.

Holy moly, that was AMAZING! I loved it! In fact, I may suffer from Awesomeness Withdrawal right now! You can tell that some Hazbinverse people worked on the animation and I'm not complaining at all!

Freckle had a deeper voice than I expected, but it fits.

The firefight between Freckle and Mordecai was great. And happy to see Serafine and Nico in this - Awesome to see them in action!

And Electro Swing was an excellent music choice.

I hope we get more of this - That was great!

Highly recommend checking out Manu Mercurial's (one of the animators) video discussing the production and some behind the scenes information on the pilot. The entire production is super positive with the entire cast and crew members having a blast. Watching that after seeing the pilot made me super proud of the entire crew and Tracy Butler.

The only bad thing about the short is that, if it does get turned into a full series, we'll have wait a long time before we see it.

That isn't the short's fault, that's a flaw with the nature of time.

Gotta say, I am not fan of the way the rough linework has been left in the character animations some of the time. I know it's probably going for that Xerox-era Disney vibe, but something about the implementation is off. Maybe it's the inconsistent nature they're applied, missing from some scenes and present in others. Perhaps its the way it is still present in still images instead of solely accentuating movement, as is the case with Cartoon Saloon's style. Or it could be that it's the fact that even the most basic shapes of early animation have been left in, adding somewhat distracting spheres in places that no longer are spherical.

Either way, apart from this relatively minor bother the whole thing is pretty great.

Part of the fun of this short is spotting the names I recognize in the closing credits — like noticing Jonti Picking under "compositing".

[up][up] I disagree, I actually like that style. Plus it was intentional by the creators to resemble the 60s and 70s era animation style of Disney Animated Films beginning with 101 Dalmatians.

I know it was intentional, I just don't care for the implementation for reasons stated above. I actually enjoy it in the Disney films.

As someone who recently got into this series and finished the comic and watched the pilot, I'm super stoked for the future of Lackadaisy. We need more adult-oriented animation that doesn't rely on low-effort sex jokes and horribly-handled romance.

I’m so happy for Tracy - She’s put so much love, care and time into the comic, so to see it animated and spreading to more people must be a great feeling!

Honestly I really hate the artificial Fandom Rivalry some Lackadaisy fans have started between this and Helluva Boss. Like they can co-exist.
