Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire

For those talking about how this is a good webcomic, let me put this comic into focus.

For eight years, we have never heard a single good thing about alterism. Well except that they can get rid of Luna's tuskmouth, but hey, they're creepy. We've never really gotten a good reason WHY they're creepy, or unethical, or the massive unpopular opinion, and why we should avoid them, and now here we meet the first alterist this comic proposes.

Suddenly we have this:

Dom: Alterism is creepy and unnatural. Kaldonia: That's not true. For instance, I used to have a penis. Dom: Oh well in that case, my views on the subject have changed completely!

Sure, there's the thing with Dominic's nightmare, but beofre then it was never presented as if Dominic was the one with the problem. Alterism was wrong, and everyone else agreed with him. Luna talks about how other Alterists were unethical, but we've never seen HOW. It seems like they just wanted to read things before signing onto the procedure. As for them being creepy, all they've done is perform magic they're clients asked for, and that says less about them than they're clients.

But then we have the big one.

See a couple years ago Luna was an Orc messiah, and as a consequence, got her uterus stolen by a dragon. Now admitedly, her sacrifice of "Bam, you're infertile now" was kind of tacked on, but it was a sacrifice nonetheless that could've led to character development. But know, we couldn't actually go through with Luna being infertile, that would interfere with her perfect perfect Sueness. See it turns out that not only can she still have children without getting pregnant, (Which is awesome), she can help people who normally would be infertile get pregnant. (Which is even More awesome). Her infertility does nothing but cause happiness for those around her. Dark scenario with a chance for character devlopment? Gone. As always with this comic.

The Kicker? this is by far the best arc this comic's had in years.

Yeah, this is a pretty terrible webcomic and it deserves its reputaion.

The Storm of Souls is the best arc in general opinion, though.

I just assume all three of you K people are trolling.

I love this webcomic. AHR does too- she's been talking about it in pms. She just has an image to uphold.

Geebus. So, is this what EGS would be like if they didn't monologue and exposition EVERY ABILITY? Just one asspull after another? I mean, I keep expecting this to be based off of some sort of DND game, or something. Does this EVER get rationalized? Or do powers just keep showing up like this at random, and are probably never used again?

Well that is MEANT to be disgusting, so I don't think it's fair to lump that in with the bad characterization, and the plot holes the size of minivans.

And by the way, I AM a fan of this comic. Jus, ya know, not in the way most people are. Or rather IN the way most people are considering most of its readership are snarking.

The fact that it was prefaced with 'getting what was coming to him' and how he was built up as the 'evil bully that is evil' archetype, I beg to differ.

Ms. Fang here gives herself willingly, and is completely shellshocked from the event (that was never mentioned before this point). Deegan is raped, and it's treated as a joke. Rachel is never portrayed as a bad person for this.
