Dominic Deegan: Oracle for Hire

And I strongly dislike trannies (hate's the wrong word). What I mean is that now I understand the people who think it's the little details that ruin this comic.

Well, no. That's not actually a good example. Transexuals exist even when there aren't really easy magic fixes for being trapped in the wrong gendered body. When there are, you should expect more people who for whatever reason decided not to go through invasive surgery to do the easy magical equivalent. They exist, and just because it makes some people uncomfortable, there's nothing really 'wrong" with the depiction of one.

A better example would be the very next comic that shows that Luna actually liked her tusks as a kid and Mookie lampshades the fact this is against established continuity. Of course,

1) Why did Mama Travoria wait so long to take her daughter to an alterist? The sensible thing to do would be to take her as a baby before the tusks do any lasting damage.

2) Why DIDN'T Mama Travoria take Luna to another Alterist? Is Elanora going to stop her? Becuase there's plenty of people who will do it for the right price.

3) If Elanora is one of Luna's personal heroes, where did this vehement dislike of alterists come from?

4) Almost every character who is not a friend of dominic and co has done the fangly face at her or insulted her tusks. How the hell was child Luna EVER happy with them?

It's the little itty bitty observations really.

I stopped reading this because:

• After reading the whole archive and staying up with the story, I couldn't figure out what was going on.
• I couldn't tell some key characters apart.
• Reading it daily wasn't enjoyable.

I did like some arcs. I don't think the hatedom is proportional to the actual flaws  ^*

That's the kind of details I'm talking about, though I tend not to notice them. That aside, I think I'm allowed to dislike transsexuals whether it'd make sense in the world of DD or not.

Yes, you are, and we are allowed to say that there is no logical reason for you to do that.

NLK, out of curiosity, what's the deal with Trannies? I figure that you, disliking the homosexual community, would support people who are actively trying to become a member of the opposite gender when they realize that that is where they belong.

I'm liking this arc quite a bit. One thing that does annoy me from time to time about Dominic Deegan is how the main cast's moral outlooks and beliefs are frequently treated as perfect. It's nice to see Dominic's world views get challenged like this for a change.

My favorite character is Luna. She's a nice female character, and proves that females don't NEED to be beautiful or fanservicy in order to be complex and deep.

She's got this weird tsundere complex going on with all webcomics she reads. I had to pester her for like three months before she would even go near Order of the Stick. And even then she claimed that it had terrible artwork.

So, what universe is this, exactly? The Dragon Quest Universe?

It gets better on the world-building side. Otherwise, your mileage will vary exponentially.

So far, I am unimpressed. The world building is pretty hugely built 'as the plot goes.' it seems rather annoying, to be honest.
