Ehh... that strip seemed kinda meh to me.
A script isn't going to care about the items it gets, and the price of an envelope plus a stamp to anywhere in the US is less than $1. But it probably isn't worth it.
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard. If you're extremely lucky and a lot of people do steal the idea a good deal of work might net you five dollars profit.
I think he's proposing actually writing the script and selling that...
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.Space Name.
A truly appropriate conclusion.
Productivity is for people without internet connections. -Count DorkuWas anyone else a bit underwhelmed by this little series?
Exits, pursued by a bear.Well, since I haven't seen that much Firefly, I'm a bit with you there. There wasn't much happening, either, especially when compared with earlier multi-strip stories.
I've seen lots of Firefly and I still didn't like it very much. I think you might have pinpointed it when you said there really wasn't much happening. Not to mention that what little *did* happen was quite predictable (Randall has a crush on Summer Glau? Especially when she beats people up? No. Way. )
Also, I think Randall tried to extend/hyperbolize the characters, which can work for comedy, but the way he did it fell flat for me here. It was like, "I'm a fan of the show, but in order to show that I don't think it's SRS BSNS I am going to make all the characters/actors repulsively silly versions of themself! Hardee har har, I am so clever."
The Morena Baccarin joke was nice though. Not enough of a payoff for five comics (or even just the three it took to get there), but still. I chuckled.

Exits, pursued by a bear.I dunno, I liked it. =o Haven't seen Firefly.
It was okay. I've seen a couple episodes of Firefly and that's it, so I knew the personalities and names of characters, but didn't pick up on anything else really.
I liked it, but certain bits did fall flat.
Does anyone else feel that xkcd isn't really living up to what it used to be?
There aren't as many nerdy jokes anymore, and there's far more sex, Firefly or other series-specific references (for series that aren't in the news), Take Thats, and random thoughts that might not actually be funny.
I'm going to go along with what everyone else is saying and register my disappointment. There's little here that's actually funny or insightful, just a rote nerdiness-for-its-own-sake routine that went on far too long.
I will keep my soul in a place out of sight, Far off, where the pulse of it is not heard.I was a fan of the comic back when Ryan North linked to it for the first time. Munroe still had the crappy old website, and I think the last of the blocks-with-red-spiders comics went up at this time.
I can't pinpoint when I stopped liking xkcd that much, or what it was that changed my mind. But these days just let other people filter the comic for me, and only read the ones that fans here link to.
I had a similar experience, Meta Four, except I don't think anything made me change my opinion of the comic.
It's the fact that many of the comics are not visually stimulating. I feel as though I'm reading an underwritten blog post. The ones that are still work.
Mathematics Is A Language.Though there is the occasional gem, Randal is just running out of material.
My own pet peeve, of course, is that I don't get some jokes because I'm not from the US. Like Car Talk? I have the general idea, that it's a call in talk show about cars, but I don't get what's so iconic about it.
Also, "Terminology" made me roll my eyes, because I live at GMT +2.

Recursive bugging?
Do you highlight everything looking for secret messages?Hey, guess what today is? It's "occasional gem" day!
That's a good one, but I think there have been quite a few good ones lately. I'm not sure why everyone seems to be going off this comic.

I suppose that makes sense, to a degree. But, like, take this recent strip.
I thought that was wonderful. Utterly absurd, but nevertheless very funny.
