What An Idiot / Dhar Mann

Go To

When trying to to not just tell stories and changing lives, you'd think that some of these characters would get smarter after making some rather boneheaded decisions.

     Mikey and Jay videos
  • A common thing in the "Jayden and Mikey" videos where Mikey usually tells his brother what his plan is going to be and Jayden telling him it's not the right choice.
You'd Expect: Jayden to tell their mother or even their teacher on what Mikey is plotting on doing right away.
Instead: He usually just goes along with it or allows him to do it leaving it at risk for Mikey to get in trouble.
  • In "Kid Fakes Broken Arm To Skip Test", Jay nearly gets caught by his teacher playing basketball despite his alleged broken arm. However, she somehow doesn't notice him.
You'd Expect: For Jay to run away and hide somewhere immediately before his teacher turns around to see him.
Instead: He stays put and panics to Mikey about what to do, which the latter doesn't even bother to signal him to move. Thus, his teacher has caught him as soon as she turns around.
Later: Jay (alongside Mikey) has to go back and forth with his fake broken arm in order to fool both his mom and the teacher.
You'd Expect: For Jay to remember each time the arm he used to fake it.
Instead: He somehow forgets which arm to place the fake cast in and uses the wrong arm, which the teacher notices, thus practically exposing him as soon as his mom shows up.
  • There's a couple In KID PULLS Fire Alarm To SKIP TEST, He Lives To Regret It
    • In the beginning of the video, Mr. Wilson, their teacher, walks by Mikey, Jay, and Derek, who were discussing their plans to visit Legoland the during the weekend, with a paper in his hand, which is a bingo book. The kids ask what Mr. Wilson is holding.
You'd Expect: Wilson to straight up say something like, "We're going to have a round of bingo in the beginning of class today." Alternatively, if he does want to keep it a surprise, he could say something like, "We're going to have a fun activity at the start of class.", avoiding any potential for Poor Communication Kills.
Instead: He decides to be vague about it and just says, "This... is a surprise."
As a Result: Mikey panics, wrongly believing that Mr. Wilson is going to give them a pop quiz, leading to the moment bellow.
    • Thanks to the above bit of idiocy of Mr. Wilson not being transparent about the bingo game, Mikey wrongly assumes Wilson wants to give him a pop quiz. Desperate to get out of the activity, Mikey gets the idea to set off the fire alarm to avoid it after overhearing about an incident at a high school of a kid pulling that school's fire alarm. Before that, he was asked to stop eating cheese dip and wipes it over the top of his shirt. He then goes to the alarm to pull it.
You'd Expect: Mikey to remember about the cheese dip on his shirt and use a part of his shirt that doesn't have the cheese dip stain to pull the alarm, thus not leaving physical evidence.
Instead: He forgets about this detail and pulls the alarm with the dip-stained part of his shirt.
As a Result: As he is questioned by the principal and Mr. Wilson about what he was doing before the alarm went off, the cops, while not finding any fingerprints, notices leftover cheese dip from the shirt Mikey used to pull the alarm. The cops then arrest Mikey for pulling a false alarm and send him to juvenile hall.
Even Worse: After Mikey is outed as the one to have pulled the fire alarm, it is THAT moment that Wilson finally revealed to Mikey that he just wanted to play Bingo with the class, meaning if he had been straightforward about it at the beginning of the video, the whole plot wouldn't have happened!
  • In the first episode of Mikey's own show, Mischief Mikey, 13-Year-Old Robs Bank For Vision Pro, Mikey, pretending to be his dad, Sam Miller, goes into the family safety deposit account (that only his mom and dad only have access to) at the So-You-Save Bank. He wears a trench coat and uses his younger brother, Jayden (who he blackmailed into helping him due to him accidentally breaking his mom's vase) to disguise his height. After stealing money from the bank to buy himself an Apple Vision Pro and a new vase for Kathy (Mikey and Jayden's mom), they head back to the house.
You'd Expect: That if Mikey is smart enough to hide the Vision Pro that he bought with the stolen money, that we would also hide the trenchcoat he used in his room, thus hiding the evidence.
Instead: He leaves it on one of the couches in the family room.
As a Result: When the police arrive at Mikey's house, while Mikey tries to deny everything, the police see the trench coat Mikey used on one of the couches, and Mikey is subsequently arrested and put into a jail cell with a scary adult inmate who plans to beat him up or worse.

     Standalone videos
  • We have two in "Evil Foster Care Mom Mistreats Kid,":
    • First, the titular foster parent is desperate not to let her foster daughter Rayna go back to her biological mother, wanting to keep her for the caretaker money. She tries to point out that she still has a foster care contract with Rayna, only for her social worker to inform her it's expired.
You'd Expect: The mother to put on a show of genuine love for Rayna to get her social worker to renew it, potentially even trying to argue that they have no way of proving anything that Rayna's biological mother was saying.
Instead: She admits right to the social worker's face that she's only interested in keeping Rayna for the money.
Then: When the social worker says the choice of who she wants to go with is Rayna's, she proceeds to try and bribe Rayna into staying with her. Her social worker is still right there within earshot.
    • Second, we also have the actions of the social worker. First, off-screen, she's apparently approached by Rayna's biological mother, who's looking to regain custody of her daughter now that she's free from her abusive husband.
You'd Expect: The social worker to inform Rayna about her mother's return ahead of time so she can arrange a controlled meeting that will allow for a comfortable reunion between Rayna and her mother.
Instead: She just randomly brings Rayna's mother to the restaurant where Rayna and her foster family are dining.
Then: She informs Rayna's foster mother that her adoption contract with Rayna has expired and she responds by demanding it be renewed, revealing in the process that she only became a foster parent to pay her bills.
You'd Then Expect: The social worker to immediately revoke custody from the foster mother and assure her she'd never foster another child again, having heard enough to know she's a greedy monster who's completely unfit to foster a child.
Instead: She simply says it's Rayna's choice as to where she wants to live, and then proceeds to do nothing when Rayna's foster mother tries to bribe her into staying with her.
  • In "Prosecutor Sends Innocent Black Man to Jail," Robert is on trial for crimes he didn't commit. He has an airtight alibi (having been in another city at the time) and the prosecutor makes it clear through his dialogue that he has a racial bias against him.
You'd Expect: Robert's defense attorney to find evidence to prove his client's innocence (which, given he was on the other side of the country when the crime happened, wouldn't be too hard to find) and/or ask the judge to have the prosecutor removed from the case for his blatant racism.
Instead: He does nothing to help his client clear his name, and it's only after the prosecutor's assistant presents evidence clearing Robert (which was indeed easy to obtain and in one instance he ALREADY HAD) and the prosecutor has a mild Villainous Breakdown that he finally speaks up about his racist conduct and does anything even close to resembling effective legal council.
  • In "Student is Suspended for Dress Code," Amber is hassled twice by Female Misogynist Principal Adams over the dress code. On both occasions, Principal Adams defends the dress code despite Amber and other students pointing out how blatantly sexist and hypocritical the rules are. Later on, she goes as far as to put together a video about the "importance" of following the dress code, which shows her unironically dictating a group of teenage girls over their clothing. Amber is watching with her friends, having put together a presentation about how outdated and unfair the dress code is.
You'd Expect: Amber to realize how thoroughly unreasonable Principal Adams has been and keep quiet, instead opting to take up her complaints with the school board (who realistically speaking, have more authority than the principal over dress code policies).
Instead: Amber confronts Principal Adams and gives her presentation to her and the rest of the cafeteria. Predictably, Principal Adams is undeterred.
Then: Principal Adams tries to forcibly put duct tape on Amber's jeans (which have holes in them), not caring that it would ruin her clothing and dismissing Amber's discomfort at doing so in front of everyone, boasting that she wants to "make an example" out of Amber.
You'd Expect: One of Amber's friends or other classmates to whip out their phone to record Principal Adams' blatant harassment of a student, thus getting video evidence of her unfair policies.
Instead: No one does anything and Amber gets suspended. It's only because of later intervention from the superintendent that everything gets cleared up.
  • In "Man LIES On His RESUME To Get Job, He Instantly Regrets It" Tim lies about having property experience as well as being a general contractor to building owner Kathy get property manager job. When he presents her his fake resume...
You'd Expect: Kathy to call the contractors board after receiving his resume to know if he is experienced.
Instead: She instantly hires him without any second thought and doesn’t call the board until she fires Tim on his first day for flooding the building by not turning off the water first.
    • Also in same video, Tim in general makes pretty big mistakes, such as also lying when he is assigned his first two contractor jobs by fixing a wall socket and unclogging a toilet.
You'd Expect: Tim tries to unscrew the socket cover to see the inside of it for the first one and turn off the water valve for the toilet before trying to take the toilet out.
Instead: Tim tries to stick a screwdriver in the plug and gets himself electrocuted, thus knocking out the power in the building and losing his update progress on his Bitcoin computers, forcing him to restart. Then with the toilet scenario, he doesn’t even think to shut the water off and ends up flooding the whole apartment building, thus getting fired. Not only that, but when he realizes that he water has hit his room where his computers are, he immediately tries to plug the cord into the still wet extension to fix it, but it just destroys the power in the entire building and his own apartment, thus ruining any chances of his bitcoin operation.
  • In ATTORNEY Tries To SCAM Businessman, Instantly Regrets it, the titular businessman has just gotten proof of the attorney and the "victim's" crimes.
You'd Expect: The businessman to hide the fact that he took the photos until after he goes into court, as to make sure evidence is not destroyed.
Instead: The businessman straight up reveals that he has the photos, which allows for his camera's memory card to be stolen and eaten.
