Why else do you think she was named Applejack?
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has many borderline examples of Trademark Favorite Food. A lot of characters have foods they are really shown to enjoy once, and it gets escalated in fans' minds to a Trademark Favorite Food because of just how crazy they go about it.
  • Twilight Sparkle once devoured some hayburgers and horseshoe-shaped fries like a shark tearing into a seal, at one point using another burger to wipe the ketchup from the last two burgers off her face, and then that burger goes down the hatch in two bites.
  • Pinkie Pie had a very cute song about making cupcakes, which she suddenly launched into while Apple Bloom looked on in confusion, cute enough on its own and then it led to a grimdark fanfic of legend, so Pinkie and cupcakes are very much ingrained into the fandom. She also loves chocolate.
  • Also, in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, there is a scene where Twilight can't figure out how to use a vending machine in the human world, and the alternate Trixie dramatically announces "THE GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE—! ...needs some peanut butter crackers." and takes them with a "Voila!" Needless to say, the fandom made the assumption that they would be Pony!Trixie's favorite food, whether or not they even actually existed in Equestria... and then Trixie mentions them in her sleep in the season 6 finale two-parter.
  • Sonata Dusk, The Ditz of the villain trio in the second Equestria Girls movie, lets Big Bad Adagio Dazzle finish her rant about her Evil Plan and then says "And after that, can we have lunch? It's Taco Tuesday!" Cue the flood of Sonataco fanfic/fanart (yes, a Portmanteau Couple Name with a character and her favorite food is possible). Then in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Sunset's Backstage Pass, she has taco designs on her new dress, and she mentions that she tried to put tacos in a toaster.
  • The Apple Family and apples. It's not just their favorite food, it's also their main source of income!
  • Rainbow Dash with the Apple Family's cider. She even freaks out at the idea that an infestation of fruit bats might prevent cider production. Later taken to new heights when the mere mention of cider snaps Rainbow to attention.
  • According to her mom, Rainbow's all time favorite food is a pasta and potato sandwich on sourdough.
  • Spike absolutely loves eating gemstones, at the point that his love for them has been used as a little plot device now and then. When gemstones are unavailable, he seems pretty fond of ice cream, donuts, and fries. When Twilight Sparkle was busy trying to avert a coming disaster, he ate an entire tub of it just because she was too distracted to tell him not to.
  • According to Fanon, Derpy Hooves/Ditzy Doo really likes muffins. This was born from a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment in "Applebuck Season" where she hungrily says, "Muffins," in the background — not only blatant Flanderization, but not even wholly reliable due to the fact that two other ponies mouth the word at the same time, calling into question whether Derpy even spoke the audible line in the first place. Nevertheless, this is such a pervasive and universally accepted component of her fanon characterization that it got a nod from the production staff in "Putting Your Hoof Down," where Derpy's bag is seen with a muffin clip, and when a limited edition Derpy Hooves toy was released, the box art included muffins. Her association with muffins (if not explicitly calling them her favorite) was canonized in "Slice of Life", when she offered one as an apology to Cranky Doodle Donkey for messing up his wedding invitations.
    • This is hilariously subverted in the fanfic Address Unknown (Remedy), where Derpy tells Twilight that she hasn't been able to look at a muffin without wanting to throw up since the Baked Bads incident in "Applebuck Season".
  • Similar to the Derpy/Ditzy case above but at a smaller scale, Soarin, the male member of the Wonderbolts that is often depicted alongside Spitfire, has been flanderized by fanon to be obsessed with pie. This is mainly because his first appearance in the series is of him purchasing and eating an apple pie. Though canon has not confirmed that pie is a favorite food of his, (it was never mentioned when he returned in the season 4 episode: "Rainbow Falls") an official series of MLP trading cards has a line about "ponies joking that his pie eating has set more records than his wings" in his card's description.
  • Princess Celestia seems to have a fondness for cake. She judges a baking contest in "Mmmmystery on the Friendship Express", and a candid photo of her in "Ponyville Confidential" has her caught eating a slice of cake.
  • Ever since the Hub Network put this recipe up on their website, fans have jumped on the idea that Princess Luna has a fondness for grilled cheese sandwiches. Particularly due to recipe labeling them as "glorious" and also because it makes a lot of sandwiches (i.e. 20 slices of white bread!). It figures the Princess of the Night would be fond of such a popular late-night snack.
