- In the 2008 remake of Yatterman, Boyakki often mimics Kamina's "This is the drill that will pierce the heavens" pose before pushing the attack button on his mechas, with the background changing to match the scene.
Fan Works
- Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality: "Lagann" is the incantation for the "Breaking Drill Hex"
- One for All and Eight for the Ninth: Yoichi mutters "Guess his is the drill that will pierce the heavens" when Monoma combines Shoji's Dupli-Arms with Kaibara's Drill.
- Weiss Reacts has a few:
- Blake's username, NightshadeNinjaCat, gets 'of Giha' appended to it in later chapters.
- 'Libera Me From Hell' makes an appearance in the Music Festivals arc.
- Tukson's appearance, voice and demeanour are inspired by Lordgenome.
- Blake's Giga Drill Mirror Force is taken from Gurren Lagann The Satire, an Abridged Series of Gurren Lagann.
Live-Action TV
- Ohsama Sentai Kingohger follows a similar plot where the antagonists of the first half are a race of animal-like humanoids bent on exterminating humans. But the second half reveals the otherworldly masterminds behind the first half's conflict as they turn the public on the heroes. Even the final battles in both shows are similar in two giants fighting outside reality due to their massive size.

- Cookie Clicker: Two upgrades reference the series in their flavour text:Ultimadrill: Pierce the heavens, etc.
Salmon Roe: Do the impossible, see the invisible. Roe roe, fight the power? - The Epic Battle Fantasy series has plenty of references to Gurren Lagann:
- Yoko Littner appears as the fourth opponent in Brawl Royale. A green-haired Expy named Midori replaces her in the Epic Battle Fantasy Collection version of the game.
- When Matt uses Cleaver in Epic Battle Fantasy 2, he may shout out "Pierce the heavens!" or "Fight the power!"
- Epic Battle Fantasy 3:
- EBF3 introduces the Tera Drill skill (renamed to Giga Drill in later games), as a reference to the Giga Drill Breaker.
- Johnny, a questgiver in The Town, wears Kamina Shades.
- The Drill Bot's Bestiary description states "It's drills will pierce your heavens". Destroying one for the first time also prompts a reference from Lance:
"I don't think these guys have the spirit to pull off a Giga Drill Breaker. Good for us!"- Yoko Littner's skull hairclip and outfit appear as equipment for Natalie, as the Skull Hairclip and Flame Skirt, respectively. The Skull Hairclip appears in the 40 Medals Area, whilst the Flame Skirt is given as a quest reward in the Kitten Kingdom Ruins.
- Yoko, Simon and Kamina appear as questgivers in the Kitten Kingdom Ruins. Yoko's quest gives the Flame Skirt, as stated before, whilst Kamina's quest gives Tera Drill and Simon's gives the Drill Bits.
- Epic Battle Fantasy 4:
- The Flame Skirt returns from EBF3, this time being found inside an abandoned house in Ashwood Forest.
- A knight wielding a drill-tipped spear named Simon appears as a questgiver in the Crystal Caverns. He gives Giga Drill as a reward.
- Epic Battle Fantasy 5: A Kamina Expy named Aniki appears as a questgiver just outside No Man's Land. Once again, he gives Giga Drill as a reward.
- ULTRAKILL: The Screwdriver Railcannon's weapon icon depicts a small drill shaped like the protagonist's core drill.
- World of Warcraft: As of Cataclysm and beyond, Felwood has a short quest chain where the quests are named "Do the Imp-Possible", "See the Invisible", "Touch the Untouchable", "Break the Unbreakable", and "Fight the Power".

- The Frollo Show:
- The series is referenced twice in Frollo Fucks the Gods; Lagann cameos next to Eduard Khil's coffin in a transition from the Overworld to Hell, and Frollo, Gaston, Guile, and Bison all defeat Batiatus with their version of the Giga Drill Breaker.
- In Frollo Gets Flashed by a Gothic Lolita, the top half of Jafar's body colliding into Pyron's ship causes an explosion. Said explosion is ripped directly from the show.
- The opening to episode 15 of If the Emperor Had a Text-to-Speech Device is an extended reference to Gurren Lagann.
- Pootis Engage: Several shots from Pootis Engage // EXTREME's Animesque intro are directly based on Gurren Lagann's opening.

- Early in season 2 of Anime Crimes Division, Furuya says his hatred for anime is larger than Yoko's breasts or the black goo at the end of Paranoia Agent and harder to cover up than the plot holes in Bleach.
