I think that Light Novels should not be under Literature (they're already under Anime and Manga) or anything else but, well, Anime and Manga. Anyone (dis)agrees?

We've got a bit of an issue in the real life section. Namely that people seem to be giving whoever they feel like their own page. Ben Affleck has only one example. Takei, 4. We have a sub page for real life events and I think we're better off moving those with fewer than at least 6 examples to their name to a sub section their.

I don't mean to diminish anything they've done, but the point of having your own page on this list is you have many, MANY such moments. Like Teddy. He has quite a number of truly awesome examples. Baring disagreement I'm going to move some of them over there.

I'm baaaaaaack

<Mod Warning> — Please be aware that the mods will delete any thread or post on this page that consists solely or principally of complaining about the name, and especially any that threaten, attack, or defame any member of the wiki staff.

Here is exactly why it was changed.

  1. The original intent was one singular, Crowning, moment per work. Clearly that did not happen. The voting system implemented to enforce this failed miserably because nobody used it.
  2. After much wrangling, the admins of this site stepped in and enforced the name change, to emphasize that it is really about all the moments one found awesome in a work. At the same time, the official rules were changed such that all Awesome Moments go on that subpage rather than in the main page for a work, since they are subjective.
  3. Complaining on this page about the change is not going to accomplish anything useful, and in fact incites further complaining that spills over into the rest of the wiki.
  4. The proper place to discuss trope names is the forums. There is currently a thread about it here.

Thanks for your attention.

The linked thread is locked. Could you please link us to the new one? This discussion will likely never be over, so it needs a permanent thread if it's going to stay off of here. ^^;

I don't mind the name change so much as the consistency with the other pages. Heartwarming and Funny are plural while Awesome is singular, similarly to Dethroning Moment Of Suck. Except those are specific examples which are signed while MOA is just listing all examples.

Not trying to start up an argument or anything, but this is what confused me in the aforementioned thread.

DMOS requires signed entries because otherwise it's a place for people to shit all over any work they even vaguely dislike for any particular reason. Negativity has always been a worse problem than positivity, on this or any other wiki.

I know the original intent for this trope was to focus on only the most awesome moments, rather than every awesome moments, and that didn't happen, hence the name change. But I still feel like there should be a trope devoted only to those moments that truly outshine all others, the ones that made your jaw drop. Ideally, it would require entries to be signed, and not allow multiple entries from the same person on the same page (or something like that). We would also have a message at the top of each examples page reminding users to only share their top one or two moments, unless someone else already has. Yeah, I'm just repeating what was originally intended for this trope, and it didn't work, but I can't help thinking it's a shame we don't elevate the truly great moments above all the others.

Why are any of the interactive games (tabletop & video games) still in existence? If they are about what the tropers did, they're troper tales and not allowed. If they're about background events they're either Literature or New Media.

When I have a little time, I trope. If I have any left over, I work and sleep.

Awesome moments may not be tropes, but they are none the less AWESOME. The site has already altered its structure in order to encourage listing them, so I don't see why anyone would want to cut them out again.

Actually, ZinfandelZT is right, but if we cut this section, we'd lose too many tropers.
