A show where Brad tries...pretty much anything.

Brad Jones tries questionable products. Said products range anywhere between the bizarre, the expired, fast food, and State Fair concoctions.

It has since led to forming of a Spin-Off series: Flaming Brian's Kitchen, where Team Snob member Brian Lewis tries out various brands of Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce, usually accompanied by at least Brad himself. Sadly, that series has gone dormant, with no new episodes since 2015.

Brad has tried the following:

Brad Tries... Tropes!:

  • And a Diet Coke: Discussed in Brad Tries The State Fair 2012, in relation to a cup of deep fried Coke.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Brad always wished that Crystal Pepsi would come back. Later on on one of his Brad Tries he found a soda that's practically Crystal Pepsi. What was it? Not See Kola.
  • Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: Brad Tries the One Chip Challenge. Cue Brad chugging a gallon of milk, and eventually cold Pop Tarts.
  • Brick Joke: In Brad Tries New Coke, post Defictionalization 80s Dan mentions that he got some Coke 2 from someone from the 90s who was also in Limbo. Flash forward to his joint review of Bimbos BC with Linkara, where 80s Dan meets 90s Kid and the two plan to swap their supplies of discontinued Coke products.
  • The Cameo: LordKat appears during Brad Tries Durian.
    • In the Wizard World edition of "Flaming Brian's Kitchen," Zach LaVoy (who would later start his own review channel as "The Cinema Slob") can be seen in the background in full Ghostbuster gear.
      • Other cosplays that can be seen include someone dressed as the Snob, a Jedi, Marco Pagot, and more.
  • Catchphrase: "No, Lloyd/Chloe!" Said whenever one of Brad's cats start sniffing the food or drink Brad's about to try.
  • Celebrity Endorsement: If Brad Tries hasn't left you dying to try a Crystal Pepsi just once, then nothing will.
  • Cute Kitten: Lloyd loves to just show up randomly in the videos. Chloe has her moments, too.
  • Deal with the Devil: Brad goes on record as saying he would sell his soul to get Crystal Pepsi back. He wonders if this has happened when he tastes "Not See Kola".
Brad: Did I make a bargain with Satan in my sleep or something?
Brian: I think I've heard you say that out loud while you're awake.
  • Does Not Like Spam: Brad mentions several times his distaste for green beans and pickles.
    • The State Fair 2014 where we find out Jake hates cream cheese.
      • Brad Tries Orbitz revealed that Jake hates butterscotch as well.
  • Erotic Eating: Doug and a bacon lollipop in "Brad Tries Pizza Beer". Heavily lampshaded, followed by him ripping the poor thing off its stick with his teeth.
  • Extreme Omnivore: It's not just that he consumes unusual or disgusting-sounding foods, but that he cheerfully imbibes discontinued soft drinks with sell-by dates somewhere in The '80s.
    • The worst one was probably where he tried Billy Beer, which was brewed in The '70s and the interior of which had rusted. With that one he squished it around his mouth and then spit it out, however.
      • Brad topped himself when he obtained a can of 1980 vintage J. R. Ewing's Private Reserve beer and actually swallowed a good sized sip on camera. After a slight Delayed Reaction, Brad deteriorates rapidly and Hilarity Ensues.
      • Also the nearly 30 years old Batman cereal had Brad give up after just one spoon.
      • Downing a roughly 20 year old bottle of Zima, which was enough to make him vomit.
      • Then there was the Reggie Bar, which Brad has stated to be the worst thing he's had on the show, thanks to the 20+ year old peanuts.
    • During The Cinema Snob's review of Caligula, he pauses the review at one point to do a brief Brad Tries where he drinks Human Blood (Well, allegedly anyway). His only complaint was that he was required to heat it up first.
  • Funny Background Event: Lloyd is a master of this trope.
    • "Brad Tries Durian Toffee" could just as plausibly be titled "Lloyd Has Fun", given that ihe hops around on the couch behind Brad, falls down behind it, gets out, and falls back in multiple times.
    • Then there's "Brad Tries Deep Throat energy drink" where halfway through, Lloyd starts going insane behind the curtain.
Brad: Hmm, wonder if Lloyd's been getting into this drink too.
    • In "Brad Tries Urge", Lloyd randomly pops up from behind the couch.
    • Happens again in Brad Tries Crystal from Pepsi, prompting Brad to say "This is the most professional show on the site."
    • In "Brad Tries Jones Soda Christmas Packs", the cat has its own show in the background.
    • In "Brad Tries Sperm", Brad has to caution his cat against sniffing the curiously-named canned cocktail he's about to consume, as that would just make the video all kinds of illegal.
    • In one episode, Lloyd starts meowing quite loudly off-screen, to which Brad reacts by assuring the cat they will drink the drink, which shuts the cat up.
    • In "Brad Tries The Canwich And Super Rooster Booster", Lloyd pops on the table to take a sniff at some breadcrumbs, meows while Brad and Brian try the energy drink ("I think Lloyd wants some") and then when they show off the crumby mess the Canwich made, Lloyd lurks around before hopping on the couch to take a peek out the window.
  • Inappropriate Hunger: Brad has a stomach of steel.
  • It Tastes Like Feet: The milk drink featured in one episode "tasted like milk out of a dead prostitute".
    • He said a bacon-wrapped deep-fried Oreo tasted like cat food. When asked how he knew what cat food tasted like, Brad said he sometimes trades with Lloyd.
    • He stated that the J. R. Ewing beer tasted like bone marrow and blood.
    • He describes the Reggie bar as tasting like "a corpse you find in an antique store" and "like a piece of cardboard had a fucking anus."
  • Leitmotif: Right Now by Van Halen for Crystal Pepsi.
  • Mad Libs Catchphrase: Some episodes open with "Hello, and welcome to (comment making fun of either his production schedule or his lack of originality)."
    • Whenever he tries a limited-time item from a fast food joint, he tends to call it "Brad Has Lunch".
  • Mundane Made Awesome: Brad pouring a bottle of New Coke...into a CRYSTAL PEPSI bottle. Stand the fuck back, everyone!
Brad: Ho ho yeah. Now that's nostalgia in your stomach!
  • Real Song Theme Tune: Newhart. Recent episodes relegate the end of the theme to the end slate, along with the "meow" heard during the show's MTM vanity plate.
  • Running Gag: In a State Fair episode, expect one jab to be made at the expense of the Illinois Republican Party. This ended after the 2016 episode, for obvious reasons:
Irving: It's not even funny this year.
  • Schmuck Bait: How Brad feels when he's about to try some of the food (and his worries are often proven right).
  • Stunned Silence: When trying Bird's Nest for the first time, a drink with a uniquely unhelpful can, Brad takes a swig and suddenly covers his face for a long beat.
    Brad: ... It's chunky!
  • Tempting Fate: Brad hates pickles, and had to try a pickle on a stick at the 2015 State Fair. So even though everyone else hated the bacon-wrapped deep fried Oreo, Brad thought it would be better by comparison. He was wrong.
"Well, at least it's not a pickle. [bites into Oreo] I wish it was a pickle! That tastes like cat food!"
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Crystal Pepsi, and Brad was ecstatic that it got revived.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: The end of "Brad Tries The Candwich and a Super Rooster Booster", the camera is on his bathroom door as you can hear Brad puking. That canned PB&J did not agree with him.
    • He also didn't agree with an old bottle of Zima, as the episode also ended with the sound of him throwing up. Considering he chugged the remainder of it after the initial sip, it's easy to see why.
