Steely gaze, steely hair, stealing hearts.
L - R, top to bottom: Connie Tucker, The Most Interesting Man in the World, Magneto, and Mrs. Anna Twombly
" I'm pregnant, McGee. Twins. Haven't told the father yet. It's Gibbs. I know it's wrong, but something about his silver hair gets me all tingly inside."
Abby Sciuto, NCIS

Age is all in the mind.

Well, for some people, anyway. Most of us will likely get grumpy, perverted, or past our prime and will end up trying anything in order to look younger.

But then, there are those who get better as they age; the ones who still qualify for the 'desirable' tag, even when they're grandparents. These men and women have maintained their dashing good looks, class, and sex appeal despite — or because of — their greying hair.

Each becomes a Silver Fox. Or, if female, a Silver Vixen.

A Silver Fox is an attractive, distinguished older (generally over 50) person, often noted for their sexy silver or white hair along with their good looks and charm. Note that this trope is only applicable to characters that look visibly old — immortal or ageless characters and characters who are Older Than They Look and resemble young people despite their age don't count. Characters who live much longer than normal humans but are nonetheless past middle age by their species' standard do count, so long as they're both visibly old and attractive by human standards.

For the manga, go here. Not to Be Confused with either Gray Fox or actual silver foxes. For attractive characters that are associated with foxes, or are literal foxes, see Foxy Vixen.

    Advertising
  • "The Most Interesting Man in the World" mascot for Dos Equis is a grey-haired old man who is always portrayed confidently flanked by beautiful young women when delivering his catchphrase.
  • Colonel Sanders, mascot of Kentucky Friend Chicken, is often portrayed by rather attractive actors. There's even a dating sim featuring him.

    Anime & Manga
  • ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept. has Chief Officer Grossular, likely above 40, going by his already high position in Acca 13 years prior to the story. And with long hair, at that.
  • Albert "004" Heinrich in Cyborg 009, specially in the 2001 series where aside from having been in his 30s when cyborgized, he spent decades in cryogenization.
  • Dragon Ball:
    • Bulma is this in the end of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball GT. Not technically a grandmother, but she has aged and still looks great. Also Future Bulma in Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks and Dragon Ball Super. Although not played for fanservice in the least, Future Bulma exudes an aura of gentle dignity, warmth, compassion, love, and kindness that makes her the most beautiful and adorable incarnation of her character to date in spite of being in her early 60s.
    • Chi-Chi still looks good after her granddaughter Pan is born. It's more obvious when she doesn't do her hair up in a bun.
  • Freezing: Sister Margaret Lindman is middle-aged, but has quite a luscious body as seen in an OVA where she is subjected to The Nudifier and everyone, including women, gawk at her.
  • JoJo's Bizarre Adventure:
    • Esidisi from Battle Tendency, even compared to the rest of the Pillar Men, who can live for thousands of years, is a senior. However, being a Pillar Man, he is a mighty senior who still gave Joseph a tough fight after his month-long Training from Hell.
    • Joseph Joestar during Stardust Crusaders, who, despite being 69, still possesses a muscular physique due to the age-slowing effects of the Ripple. However, by Diamond is Unbreakable, at just shy of 80, age has finally caught up with him, leaving him elderly and senile.
    • Likewise, Joseph's wife, Suzi Q, is shown to still have quite the figure, even as an old lady.
  • Moriarty the Patriot: Jack is the oldest of the Moriarty crew, with long silver hair that even is commented on by some of the young women who see him as a "distinguished gray" and implied to look like the hero of a romance novel, despite his age.
  • One Piece:
  • Overlord (2012): Sebas Tian certainly looks the part as a charming elder gentleman with impeccable manners and hair apparently silvered with age. The subversion is that he is originally a computer game NPC and thus technically only three years old.
  • In Private Actress, the 50-something actor Masakazu Ogata (aka Shiho's father, who doesn't know about her until the second half of the story) is famous for three things. One, his genuine acting skills. Two, his womanizing. Three, how beautifully he has aged.
  • Ristorante Paradiso: The main cast consists of men in their fifties or older. All of them are regarded as quite handsome by their customers, Olga and Nicoletta.
  • Skull-face Bookseller Honda-san: The first episode has the title character interacting with a very handsome, English-speaking gray-haired man. Much awkwardness ensues when he tries to buy an erotic doujinshi, which isn't available at the bookstore.
  • Yandere Kanojo has Manabu's grandfather, who is portrayed as absurdly charming. It's also implied that he still successfully bar hops for women.

    Comic Books
  • Depending on the art style, Commissioner Gordon from Batman can be quite the Silver Fox.
  • X-Men:
    • Magneto. Not so much when he first appeared, as a typical crazy '60s villain, but in the '80s, once he'd been de-aged to a child then re-aged to adulthood, and gained a sense of composure and dignity about himself, very much so. He routinely scores with women a quarter to half his age.
    • Cyclops and Havok's space-faring father Corsair is consistently portrayed as a dashing swashbuckler who isn't the least bit bothered by age.
    • While Cable is generally unconcerned with his appearance, the years have been very kind to him in this regard - as they will be to his half-brother and counterpart, Nate Grey, who's identical to a young Cable and per a possible future, will continue to look exactly like him. The Summers family has good genes, apparently.
  • East of West has Antonia LeVay, the president of the Union. Despite having some clear lines on her face and grey streaks on the side of her head, she's a very beautiful woman who wears a dress that reveals her cleavage down to her navel and has slits on the side that shows off her legs.
  • Gold Digger
    • Julia Diggers is in her 50s but looks very good for her age due to constantly working out before getting an effective age downgrade. The regression showed she hasn't aged much since her 30s.
    • Theodore is in good shape, despite being older than Julia and not getting the same age-down. And that's only his physical body- in his Aura form, he looks like an Olympian god.
  • The Savage Dragon brings us Superpatriot, whom the young and exceedingly hot Dart found sexy enough that she once sighed and commented "if only he were thirty years younger...". She later wound up in bed with his similar-looking yet naive son, Justice.
  • Since Judge Dredd's timeline progresses at a 1:1 rate with real time, Psi Judge Anderson has been a street judge for at least 35 years, placing her in her early 50s. As a Psi Judge, she doesn't take the age-slowing drugs available to regular Judges and is still consistently depicted as a very attractive woman who is frequently hit on by men half her age.
  • Circles: Despite being over 50, some people find Paulie very attractive, especially Douglas who marries him.
  • The Old Lady Harley miniseries has Harley Quinn as an Anti-Hero trying to survive in a Mad Max-esque post-apocalyptic world. While she's around 50-60 she's still quite attractive.
  • Superman in Superman and the Authority looks to be at least late-middle-aged, with graying temples and noticeably declining superpowers. Despite this, he's a very clear Mr. Fanservice, with panels dedicated to showing off his sweaty, muscular body after a workout.
  • Deathstroke is sometimes drawn as being this, especially in the 2016 run where he's a Mr. Fanservice and regularly shown shirtless.
  • Spider-Man:
  • Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel: The titular hero is in his seventies in the series, and yet looks like a man barely in his fifties thanks to his superpowers slowing his aging. Later appearances of Adam have him starting a relationship with the much younger Monica Rambeau (typical superhero early 30s).

    Fan Works
  • In A Brighter Dark, Yukimura is one of the oldest major characters on the Hoshidan side, but (a completely hungover) Corrin still finds him attractive enough to want to bed.
  • Child of the Storm:
    • Magneto, as per canon. While he was de-aged somewhat in the mysterious 'Krakoa Incident', he's still grey-haired and in his 70s, and Carol notes that he's "kind of hot in an older guy sort of way."
    • Alison Carter is noted to be this - despite being in her 60s, she looks closer to someone in their late 40s who kept fit and aged gracefully. And that's with the aging make-up on. She's a Super-Soldier, with either drastically slowed or a more or less non-existent aging process, having hit her mid to late twenties and stayed there.
    • Alison's children, Jack O'Neill and Marie Danvers, are both noted to be attractive: Marie closely resembles an older version of her daughter, Carol (who cleans up nicely enough to compete with a young Wonder Woman and Fleur Delacour for belle of the ball). Jack, meanwhile, went grey in his early forties Carol's faintly squicked when she sees Noriko (a girl her age), crushing on him. It's implied not to be the first time, either.
    • Also Frigga, who's in the equivalent age category (she's about 3500 years old, which is the Asgardian equivalent of late 50s), is noted as being remarkably beautiful.
  • In the Empath: The Luckiest Smurf story "Empath's Wedding", Flowerbell the woodnymph still comments on Papa Smurf's looks like this.
  • In Hero: The Guardian Smurf, Smurfette holds onto her beautiful form even when she has silver hair.
  • In Jonathan Joestar, The First JoJo, Older Joseph had been commented about his physique.
  • In Pokémon Reset Bloodlines, it's mentioned that Elite Four Drasna willingly posed for a swimsuit calendar along with other quite attractive trainers like Cynthia, Lorelei, and Diantha.
  • Violet Kincaid from Roman's Empire is a woman in her late fifties. She's also walking sex appeal even in her old age. She's still attractive enough to get multiple young lovers. Even Roman has to admit that she's attractive. And even after the Time Skip when she's in her sixties, she's still a bombshell.
  • Nana Shimura in The Magic Touch is sixty years old by the time Izuku enters UA but is stated to have the poise and vigor of a woman half her age, with Mineta outright calling her a gilf.

    Films — Animation
  • Aladdin's father Cassim in Aladdin and the King of Thieves is an older man with greying hair but is still extremely handsome and charming. It is easy to see where Aladdin gets these traits from. When he meets his future daughter-in-law, she even notes how similar they are.
  • King Arthur in Camelot remains good-looking and adorable (with a childlike face) when he gets older, in spite of all the work he has. After his revival in Avalon, his hair returns to brown.
  • While some find him sleazy and appalling (and highly racist and an Abusive Dad on top of that), a lot of fans find Judge Claude Frollo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame sexy in many ways, from his sharp facial features, to his dry and snarky personality. So, he can be qualified as this for also having white hair.
  • The Little Mermaid (1989): King Triton is a very muscular older merman, and apart from the fact that his hair has gone white, he doesn’t look any different from his younger self as seen in The Little Mermaid III: Ariel's Beginning. In that movie, two women are seen flirting with Triton (both in the past and the present).

    Films — Live-Action
  • Blue Beetle (2023): Victoria is a glamorous and well-kept older woman. Even Milagro finds her attractive, in a way she describes as "Cruella-Kardashian", despite not being fond of her.
  • Billy Flynn from Chicago is a quintessential example of this. Being played by Richard Gere helps.
  • The 1962 film Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation: Mrs. Peggy Hobbs. Brought up when a Swedish bombshell (Marika) is trying to make some moves on the eponymous character, Roger, and he turns her down, and then she sees the wife (Maureen O'Hara) after learning they have 3 grandchildren.
    Swedish Girl: That's a grandma?
Roger Hobbs: 36-26-36 and still operating.
  • In the spoof film, Epic Movie, this trope is parodied somewhat as a parody of Mystique becomes one (to the main character anyway...). During the party before the final battle, a parody of Mystique seductively tells the main character Peter that him being king is "so hot", before pulling him into the tent to have sex with him. She throws him down on the bed and starts making out with him while on top. Since she's a shapeshifter, she asks him what he'd like her to shapeshift into. He at first requests bigger breasts and a larger ass, followed by the request of a badonkadonk. However, he takes it back for a "Monobrow" (A unibrow). After that, he requests "Big Flabby Grandma Arms" which he really seems happy about. This disgusts Mystique, but he insists, now referring to them as "Bingo Wings like a fat blue Britney Spears". She morphs into a fat blue old grandma and he drools at the sight of it and he pulls her down to make out. She falls on top of him and she starts to make love to him. And he's totally into it. So even if the audience doesn't view her as beautiful, Peter certainly finds the grandma arms to be a turn-on...
Peter: (Visibly drooling) Now that's what I'm talking about...
(Cut to her all fat, old, and flabby flapping her bingo wings)
    Peter: ...Come here!
(We zoom in on her face as she wiggles her tongue and he pulls her down to make out with her.)
  • Marvel Cinematic Universe:John Slattery is used to give Howard Stark this for any appearances he makes canonically set between the mid-1970s and his death on December 16, 1991.
  • Theoden in Lord of the Rings after his curse is lifted, played by Bernard Hill. Not only does he have a nice mix of silver and gold hair, and handsome features only accentuated by laugh lines, but also a perfect mix of dignity and emotional vulnerability.
  • The Devil Wears Prada: Miranda is visibly graying with pure white hair, but she is still presented as incredibly good looking for her age, especially with her great fashion sense.

    Literature
  • Song in the Silence: When Akhor the Silver King of the Kantri becomes human, he has long silver hair. His age then is indeterminate, but his eyes show something of his thousand-year life. His Love Interest is all over him in this form, and he's all over her; otherwise people don't note if he's attractive... except that one human friend of his who gets hugged notes in the narration that she can't help but notice that he smells amazing.
  • In Hurog, Alizon, the king's bastard brother, is described as this. The ladies of the court apparently compare him to a wolf, not a fox, but the thought is the same.
  • Known Space: The protagonist of "A Relic of the Empire" had lost his fortune and become middle-aged before he recovered enough to afford boosterspice again and regain his physical youth. He realized that he'd actually had more success with the ladies with some grey in his hair, and started dyeing it back in.
  • Walt Comeau, one of the antagonists of Empire Falls, tries to invoke this. He's also a Smug Snake and hiding numerous secrets, including his age (10 years older than he claims) and ramshackle personal finances.
  • Sisterhood Series: Myra Rutledge and Countess Anne "Annie" Ryland de Silva. Both of them are in their 60s and heading on to 70s. Make no mistake, they are old enough to be your grandmother, and they are incredibly sexy! In fact, Weekend Warriors has Nikki Quinn and Barbara Rutledge commenting that Myra looks better at 60 plus years old than they do at 30 plus years old. Now that's hotness!
  • The Belgariad: Belgarath is an Elderly Immortal who looks to be somewhere in his seventies. Right up until he takes off his shirt, demonstrating that while he may have looked seventy-something for the last five thousand years, and may have a taste for booze and rich food, he is ripped. Liselle is very impressed by what she sees, and becomes embarrassed when she's teased for it.
  • Kinsey Millhone: The eponymous character definitely thinks her landlord Henry, who is around eighty, is very sexy.
  • Lady Abigail Irene Garrett in Amsterdam is around 50 when we meet her, and is definitely still a sexually vibrant woman.
  • The Book of Genesis, Sarah is described as the World's Most Beautiful Woman well into her old age.
  • In Harry Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat series, the beautiful and lethal Angelina becomes a grandmother. And remains lethal.
  • In Poltava by Alexander Pushkin, Maria is deeply in love with her elderly godfather Mazeppa (or rather the person she believes him to be) and mentions his white hair as one of the traits that attract her.
  • Referenced in The Stormlight Archive. When Shallan creates illusory disguises, she makes her fiance Adolin a handsome old man. Kaladin describes him as the kind of man who makes women think they like older men when they actually prefer him.
  • In Infinite Jest, to the Incandenza boys' consternation their silver-haired widowed mother Avril is sexually compelling not only to men of her age, but to their very own peers—including John "No Relation" Wayne, with whom she is carrying on an affair.
  • Stella Hawthorne of Ghost Story is explicitly described as a 60-year-old grey-haired woman who remains intensely attractive to virtually every man in the entire town of Milburn, of every age.
  • Small World (Tabitha King novel): Though pushing fifty, Dolly is still a looker with a fabulous figure and snow-white hair.
  • The Adrien English Mysteries: Adrien's mother Lisa is old enough to have a son in his thirties from his first marriage. Despite that, she is portrayed as a very imposing and beautiful woman.

    Live-Action TV
  • Alphas: Several different older women are shown swooning in Dr. Lee Rosen's presence.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer Rupert Giles had a huge following amongst fangirls (and female Buffy YouTube reactors) with Willow, Faith, Anya and even gold star lesbian Tara professing an attraction to him - in three of those cases, after they heard him singing.
  • Cobra Kai: Since thirty years have passed since the Karate Kid trilogy, John Kreese's hair has gone gray and he still as ruthless a karate fighter as well in his mid-70s. While Terry Silver, who had slick black hair in The Karate Kid Part III, now literally has silver hair when he is introduced in season 4. This also serves to make him look much older than his actor, since although Silver is meant to be close in age to Kreese, Thomas Ian Griffith is actually a few months younger than Ralph Macchio, who plays Daniel LaRusso in his late 50s.
  • Gil Grissom, CSI. Even his future wife, Sara, drops a line about finding grey hair sexy, while he's in the room, no less. The silver fox look is even more evident in his 12th season cameo, where William Peterson wasn't coloring his hair quite as much and it was more natural-looking.
  • The Third Doctor from Doctor Who. True, One could be very charming when he wanted to be, but he still looked every day of his apparent age (One being deliberately played as older than William Hartnell, who was in his mid-50s). Patrick Troughton as Two was far from unappealing and had his charms, but hardly had a single strand of silver in his thick black mop. However, Jon Pertwee as Three managed to be an old guy with a very snappy sense of style (both in fashion and demeanour), looked and acted very fit for his age and generally made being old look good. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he was one of the real-life bases for James Bond.
    • Peter Capaldi as Twelve definitely qualifies.
    • Alex Kingston, playing River Song, is almost 20 years older than Matt Smith, and was 45 when she originated the role. Yet, she's charming, charismatic, and at some point, she becomes the Doctor's Love Interest. Interestingly, River's last appearance on the show to date establishes the aforementioned Twelfth Doctor as the incarnation who truly returns her love, as he's gained the needed emotional maturity to do so by that point.
  • Mad Men:
    • Roger Sterling, played by John Slattery. The name might be a Stealth Pun. He's definitely intended to be young for a man with pure white hair; he served in the Navy in World War II and was apparently a small child in the 1920s, so he's no older than 45ish when the series starts in 1960.
    • Henry Francis, Betty's second husband is at least 15 years older and has an already married daughter but still quite the catch.
  • 30 Rock: The series makes reference to Helen Mirren in a bikini, prompting Liz to say "It's not possible, what is she, a wizard?" This refers to then-recent paparazzi images of 60-something Mirren looking incredible in a bikini someone half her age might be hesitant to wear.
  • Gibbs from NCIS. Ziva is not convinced. "And it's not like you guys are going gray!" Gibbs is standing behind her. "Gray can be... really sexy."
Abby: I'm pregnant, McGee. Twins. Haven't told the father yet. It's Gibbs. I know it's wrong, but something about his silver hair gets me all tingly inside.
Tony: [walks in] Excuse me for a second, I think I'm going to vomit.
Abby: I'm joking, Tony. Except for that part about Gibbs's hair. That is really hot.

Abby: Correct as always, my silver-haired fox. ...I mean, Gibbs, sir, boss.
  • Colonel, later General, Jack O'Neill on Stargate SG-1, who despite having gone grey by Season 3, never had any trouble getting female attention, In-Universe and out.
  • DI Lestrade from Sherlock.
  • Person of Interest: Reese is well on his way to being one. Lampshaded by Wendy the hairstylist in "Number Crunch". Also in the episode "4C".
"That salt and pepper thing's like catnip to soccer moms."
  • Discussed in the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Shattered" by the recurring villain Seska, who has a Villainous Crush on Commander Chakotay.
Seska: Men just get more distinguished as they get older. A few lines here, a little grey there, it adds character. Too bad their minds start to go.
  • In Friends, Phoebe refers to Ralph Lauren as a "silver fox". The bulk of her plot of that episode is her thinking she made out with him — but it was just the (much younger!) Kenny the copy guy.
  • The Great British Bake Off: Paul "The Silverback" Hollywood is a classic example. Exploited both by the show's producers—who insert long, lingering close-ups of his piercing blue gaze at every possible opportunity—and, in slightly less reverent fashion, by the hosts.
Sue: Now this week's recipe is Paul's, and it's one that's very close to his heart.
Mel: Yup, nestled right in under his chest hair.
  • Adam from The Thick of It. Apparently he's aware of it, too; he says he entered politics "for the pussy." Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi, as mentioned above) in the later seasons counts too. Neither is very nice, but that doesn't seem to faze their following.
  • Invoked in True Blood. Sam Merlotte with his greying hair is almost certainly over 40; he begins dating 22-year-old Nicole and her mother quickly objects due to the age difference. She reminds Nicole of her age then turns to Sam and says disparagingly, "And how old are you, silver fox?" Even after they make amends (largely due to Nicole being pregnant), "Silver Fox" becomes the mother's Ironic Nickname for him.
  • Patsy Stone from Absolutely Fabulous. Her age is north of 70 at the beginning of the show in the early 90s, yet she Really Gets Around, having no trouble finding much younger boyfriends. Another reason is having essentially been mummified since the early 70s as a result of massive drug abuse.
  • Fiona Goode from American Horror Story: Coven is considered quite attractive and is stated to be quite beautiful in her first scene. However, she isn't satisfied with being this trope and tries desperately to become younger and immortal.
  • Coronation Street - sexpot Liz McDonald became a grandmother in her early fifties and was entered into a 'Glamorous Granny' competition (which she won).
  • Bree van de Kamp from in Desperate Housewives is coming from the attractive mother territory to this one. Reinforced and Lampshaded, in both ways, when, at the same time, she begins her menopause (the grandma side) and gets involved with the handsome, well-built, and 15 years younger Keith (the hot side).
  • Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman: Dorothy was an older and very attractive woman, estranged from her abusive husband and later widowed. She's courted by her brother-in-law Loren Bray and much younger man Jake Slicker, who initiated their May–December Romance. Dorothy's old age is marked when she thinks she's pregnant but she's in fact beginning menopause.
  • One audition on Italy's Got Talent was a Japanese septuagenarian with a background in opera and theatre. For this performance, she chose something a little more modern... pole-dancing.
  • Magnificent Century: Ayse Hafsa Sultan, the Valide Sultan, has been occasionally complimented for her beauty in her old age. On her deathbed, her daughter Hatice includes her beautiful face when admiring her traits, and even Hürrem tells her that her beauty was one of her traits that she admired before Hafsa became hostile to her.
  • My Grandmother's Ravioli: due to the nature of the show, Mo Rocca finds himself meeting with a veritable full spectrum of grandmothers, ranging from the matronly to the lovely. But one particular episode stands out. It turns out that the grandmother in question started her family young, and her children did as well. Which makes her technically a grandmother at the age of 52, and still stunning at that.
  • In the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode featuring The Magic Sword, Crow ends up dumping his infatuation towards Kim Catrall in favor of Estelle Winwood, grossing out Tom Servo when Crow creates a Love Song about her.
  • Oz: The reaction of many inmates towards the 60-something Sister Peter Marie. A small group actually voted her the hottest woman in the prison.
  • Sabrina the Teenage Witch introduces Aunt Irma in Season 6, played by Barbara Eden (who was in her 70s at the time) and with a very Hot Witch appearance. Season 7 confirms her age as being over 2000 years old. In one episode she asks Harvey to answer truthfully if she's an attractive woman. He responds "on the outside", as she's a bit of an Evil Matriarch.
  • Scrubs: JD has sex with a new grandmother (her daughter was a patient, for the delivery), who easily fits the category in "My Best Moment".
  • Gemma from Sons of Anarchy, enough to be checked out and commented on by the much younger Prospect, Half-Sack.
  • Paul Lassiter's mother in Spin City. Paul is baffled by all the attention she gets until Carter gets him to take a real look at her:
Paul: Oh my god! OH MY GOD! I just checked out my mother!
    Carter: And?
    Paul: She's a smoking hottie!
  • Mona Robinson from Who's the Boss? is Angela's mother and the sexpot of the show (while it's not clear exactly how old Mona is supposed to be, the actress who played her was in her mid-50s when the show started and over 60 by the time it ended).
  • Dennis Stanton on Murder, She Wrote. A Gentleman Thief turned insurance investigator, the silver-haired Stanton is still extremely fit and physically active, and is never anything less than debonair and charming in his interactions with women.
  • In Gotham, the man who killed Bruce Wayne's parents can't remember who they were, and it takes a few details before he can remember the exact moments, right, "real 'silver fox' type" (where Martha is the one where "the pearls went everywhere...").
  • The Expanse: United Nations Deputy Undersecretary (later Secretary General) Chrisjen Avasarala is a very well-kept senior citizen. Amos definitely appreciates her.
Amos Burton: How did she look?
    James Holden: She looked fine.
Amos Burton: No, I mean, what was she wearing?
James Holden: ...It's good to be back.
    • There's also this exchange:
Amos Burton: You and I have very different life experiences, Chrissie.
Chrisjen Avasarala: Don't call me that. I'm a member of Parliament, not your favourite stripper.
Amos Burton: You could be both.
  • Captain Jean-Luc Picard from Star Trek: The Next Generation has this trope in spades, albeit having switched out the traditional silver hair for a bald look. Patrick Stewart was in his late forties when the show started and early sixties by the time they wrapped up the last movie, but his classical charm and dignified air wowed plenty of characters and viewers. Among Picard's potential suitors over the course of the series are Hospital Hottie Doctor Crusher, Adventurer Archaeologist Vash, unsubtle-cougar-on-the-prowl Lwaxanna Troi, and the Voice Of The Collective herself, The Borg Queen. What's especially impressive is that the more conventionally attractive Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes were used for more standard fanservice, but Stewart managed to get just as much attention from the viewers, if not more.
  • mixed•ish: Paul's dad Harrison middle-aged but handsome and charming, with a string of younger girlfriends (having money probably helps too). In fact, he's a literal example, because his gray hair looks silver.
  • Women's Murder Club: Jacobi has noticeably greying hair, but this does very little to stop his luck with the ladies. Multiple episodes show that he is able to easily woo women.
  • The Resident has brilliant surgeon Dr Randolph Bell, played by the sixty-something, silver-and-gray-haired Bruce Greenwood. Not only did Greenwood have the fangirls swooning, but Bell got a slow-burning romance with the equally brilliant orthopedic surgeon Dr Kit Voss, played by Jane Leeves — who, it must be noted, has matured like top-shelf whisky since her days on Frasier.
  • Abbott Elementary: Both Melissa and Barbara are visibly older than the other teachers, but that doesn't stop them from being gorgeous, something that the work points out repeatedly, especially in regards to Melissa, with multiple outfits designed to show off her curves.
Melissa (to Barbara): My opinion - you've gotten better with age, like good wine and Stanley Tucci.

    Music
  • While Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne isn't this trope, Word of God says it was inspired by a childhood friend who felt this way about the author's grandmother.
  • Charlie Rich, the vastly-talented, multi-genre stylist of the 1970s whose primary style was country (and best known for songs like "Behind Closed Doors" and "The Most Beautiful Girl"), was nicknamed The Silver Fox.

    Pro Wrestling
  • Kevin Nash, known as "Big Sexy" for over sixteen years and still, in his own words, "built like a god!", was once called "the Silver Fox" as an alternate Red Baron in TNA due to his grey hair.
  • Although she wasn't a grandmother yet, Eric Bischoff had a little storyline where he seduced Linda McMahon and seemed genuinely attracted to her.

    Radio
  • Bleak Expectations:
    • Series Big Bad Mr. Benevolent (age undisclosed, but played by Anthony Head) manages to charm several women through the course of the series, including ninety-three at once, and eventually maybe even his own nemesis.
    • Sir Phillip Bin, the older Pip Bin who narrates the series. When his wife Ripely, who's got something of a wandering body, catches a glimpse of him she tells Pip that if that is what he looks like in old age, she'll seriously consider staying with him.

    Sports
  • For the 2017 Player's Weekend, Major League Baseball players got to choose nicknames for the backs of their jerseys. Chase Utley chose "Silver Fox" for his, at the suggestion of teammate Corey Seager.

  • In the BattleTech universe, Natasha Kerensky was quickly established as a sphere-wide sex symbol when the Wolf's Dragoons arrived on the scene in 3004. She retained this status until her death in 3057 at the age of 84.

    Video Games
  • Assassin's Creed: Ezio in Assassin's Creed: Revelations. He's 53 and still running around performing rooftop acrobatics and charming his new love interest, who's almost 20 years younger than he is.

  • Borderlands 3: Zane may be getting up there in years, but the ladies are still interested - several enemies refer to him as a 'pretty boy'. In the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, he mentions that he's a three-time 'Galaxy's Sexiest Hitman' winner, which is no small feat in a setting like this one.

  • Cookie Run: Kingdom has Almond Cookie, from the Magical Emergency Handling division, also part-time professor at Parfaedia Institute.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 has a number of them, due to this being a sci-fi universe where the rich can buy rejuvenation treatments and implants to make themselves look younger.
    • Rogue Amendiares is the city's top Fixer. She's about 80, with long, flowing grey hair and wrinkles. You can take her out on a date in one of the sidequests.
    • One of the love interests for the 27-year-old V, rockerboy Kerry Eurodyne is about 80-90, but looks very well for his age, sporting a full head of grey hair.
    • Nancy/Bes Isis Heartley is a journalist still working in the field. She's about the same age as Kerry but looks to be in her late fifties due to long, grey hair and wrinkles.

  • Australian Task Force 29 director Jim Miller, of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, is in his late forties and graying at the sides but still has a rugged, handsome look to him and looks quite suave in his off-mission suit. It helps that, according to Word of God, his appearance was based on Roy Batty from Blade Runner.
  • Dante himself certainly counts as of Devil May Cry 5, moreso after shaving that scraggly beard off.
    • And we can add Vergil to the list too.
  • Dragon Age:
    • Wynne from Dragon Age: Origins, Zevran doesn't hesitate to flirt with her and comment on her "magical bosom". Wynne, who's old enough to be his grandmother, is not amused. Oghren and even (in a DLC) Alistair flirt with her, too. For what it's worth, Wynne implies that she's not above taking a younger man to bed.
    • First-Enchanter Orsino of Dragon Age II (though he's apparently a bit younger than he looks). The fighting chops he shows against the qunari don't hurt.
    • Flemeth from Dragon Age II, having upgraded from plain burlap-sack clothes and a gaunt, haggard appearance in the first game to this in the second.
      • In Dragon Age: Inquisition, this gets dialed back a bit - she keeps the body, but her face is visibly older in appearance than it was in the second game.
  • Dynasty Warriors has Sun Jian, patriarch of the Sun family, who is portrayed as ruggedly handsome despite his silver hair and older age. This is definitely not upheld by history, as the real Sun Jian died young in battle at the age of 36.

  • EXTRAPOWER: Attack of Darkforce: The mercenary Wolf from the SPICA team (not to be confused with Wolf from EXTRAPOWER: Giant Fist) is an older member of the team with a full head of grey hair, but is still as rugged and fit as ever.

  • Fate/Grand Order has the Archer of Shinjuku, a.k.a. James Moriarty, who manifests as a dapper middle-aged man with a fashionable suit and pure grey hair. Funnily enough, he's incredibly jealous of his old archnemesis for looking way younger and handsomer than he does.
  • Godbert in Final Fantasy XIV has white hair, a bushy white mustache, and looks old enough to fit the role of the game's version of Santa Claus (which he does play as). Despite his older age, he's incredibly well built and has the strength to back it up. Male player characters can also be customized to look like this as well.
  • Galzus from Fire Emblem: Thracia 776 is remarked as quite handsome despite being older than many.
  • The Illusive Man, of Mass Effect 2 and 3, is intelligent, charming, and looks like he's in his mid-fifties in spite of being over seventy years old (justified, considering the long lifespans of humans in the game and Cerberus's emphasis on genetic modification).
    • Samara, ancient asari Justicar and one of your potential party members, is one too.
    • In-universe with Mordin Solus, a salarian scientist in the final decade of his life. Apparently he's considered something of a sexpot, and is exasperated by the constant come-ons from various aliens.
    • An in-universe version in Mass Effect: Andromeda with Nakmor Drack. He's a fifteen hundred year old krogan warrior, who looks like... well, a krogan. Despite this, asari doctor Lexi T'Perro is crushing hard on him.
  • Max Gentlemen Sexy Business! has two attractive older love interests, the jolly Sinterklaas and the ferocious Summer Starling.
  • The Metal Gear series has its fair share. Especially in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots where Solid Snake, despite having aged to the appearance of an elderly man, still has a fairly muscular body and an extremely prominent, well-sculpted ass. Likewise, Ocelot, who is in his 70s, also turns out to be fairly well built. And there's Big Mama aka EVA who aside from some wrinkles, still has a rather youthful figure and wears an outfit with a plunging neckline.
  • Mortal Kombat:
    • Sindel has been quite the silver fox ever since she first appeared in Mortal Kombat 3. Mind, it's hard to say if her mostly white hair is supposed to be indicative of her age, seeing how both Sindel and her daughter Kitana are said to be over 10,000 years old.
    • Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11 take place 25-28 years since the original trilogy, and several human characters are strikingly attractive in their mature years: Johnny Cage, Jax, Kung Lao, Kenshi, Kano (who has developed quite the gay male following), Sub-Zero, and a now-human Scorpion. Even the Terminator is modeled after Arnold Schwarzenegger in his 70's. That being said, Sonya Blade is an arguable example. While she's as beautiful as ever, her design has been criticized for not looking like a woman in her 50's and being nearly identical to her adult daughter Cassie.
  • Overwatch:
    • Soldier 76, who is always seen with his mask on. While he was already quite the looker when he was the Strike-Commander of Overwatch, two of his Legendary skins, particularly Commando: 76, show that he's still pretty easy on the eyes despite aging.
    • Reinhardt is one of the oldest playable characters in Overwatch at 61, but he's still as muscular and handsome as he was in his youth. This is lampshaded by Ana, who's surprised by how well he's aged in an in-game conversation.
    • Ana is only a year younger than Reinhardt, but still looks incredibly good for a sixty-year-old. Reinhardt even compliments her on how gracefully she's aged in the same conversation mentioned above.
    • Sigma is the oldest playable hero at 62, and many of his alternate skins still portrays him in flattering ways; from his swimwear-clad ”Scuba” skin that showcases his surprisingly fit physique, to the classy ”Maestro” skin that makes him sharply-dressed in white tie.
  • Samurai Warriors has Ujiyasu Hojo, who is openly desired by his subordinate Kai for his bravery and good looks. This portrayal of Ujiyasu is somewhere in his 50s, which aligns with the real Ujiyasu having lived to the age of 56 or so.
  • Shovel Knight: King Knight's mom, who is introduced in the King of Cards campaign. Aside from her grey hair and slight wrinkles, she doesn't look too different from the younger women seen in the game. Add her sweet, caring personality, and its easy to see why King Pridemoor takes a liking to her (much to King Knight's chagrin).
  • Swooning Over Stans: A Grunkle Dating Simulator: Stan and Ford are this trope, even more so than they are in canon.

  • Lee Chaolan of Tekken. Very much a white-haired Bishōnen in his youth, he's now pushing 50 as of late and is still as Biseinen as they get, even giving younger pretty boys like Jin, Hwoarang, and Lars a run for their money. Lee's In-Series Nickname, fittingly enough, is the "Silver-Haired Demon/Devil."
  • In Total War: Shogun 2, a Geisha or Shirabyoshi agent can still be seducing twenty-something enemy generals well into their fifties, sixties, or even seventies, and will probably even be more effective at it than a much younger woman.
  • Used In-Universe in regards to Toriel in Undertale. Toriel is a motherly goat-like boss monster who looks old enough to be someone's grandmother, yet users of the internet consider her to be very attractive in spite of her age.

  • Although Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher cheats a bit by being Really 700 Years Old he does look in his early forties and his totally white hair absolutely makes him a Silver Fox, or White Wolf. That said, a few people might be put off his shirtless scenes by the fact his torso and arms are covered in savage-looking scars from where he has been slashed and bitten. Monster slaying isn't all glamour.

    Webcomics
  • General Tarquin from The Order of the Stick. Haley sees him as evidence that his son Elan is still going to be attractive in his middle age. As a Stick-Figure Comic, both characters qualify for Informed Attractiveness, but Tarquin's hair is definitely a pleasant shade of grey, which lends the trope some credence.
  • Questionable Content:
    • Dora squees upon meeting Marten's father, Henry, (who looks almost exactly like a silver-haired version of his son), saying that Marten will look so hot when he goes gray. Later, Claire gets quite flustered on her first meeting with Henry, with dazed mumbling about how handsome he is.
    • Jim the bakery owner is more salt-and-pepper than outright silver, but is still romantically active and repeatedly mentioned to be quite cute. He even dates Dora after her breakup with Marten, though they decide on the first date that they're better off friends. He later winds up involved with Marten's mother, Veronica.
  • Niels by Humon brings us our favorite super secret soldier, Agent 250. He's in his mid-fifties, and the only real clue to his age are the slight wrinkles under his eyes and his hair, which is light gray at the roots and dark gray on top. Despite this, he's as buff and sprightly as a man half his age, and could easily pass as one if his hair weren't gray. Let's just say there's a reason he's in a relationship.
  • Though she's not a main character of Zodiac, Cancer's grandmother Natalia Hain is in very good shape for her age.
  • Maggie of Erfworld. Grey hair, grey skin, wrinkled — but can still work a miniskirt. The physical properties of Erfworld help: a person's physical appearance (or "signamancy") is in large part defined by their personality, view of themselves, and emotional state. Since Maggie met Parson, she found a new purpose in life (and possibly developed a crush on him), as a result, her appearance has been growing more attractive and even a bit more youthful.
  • King Urtica in Exiern, despite his white hair and beard, is revealed to still have a very well muscled and defined chest and six-pack. Not to mention his "come to bed" eyes and smile.
  • Schlock Mercenary: Karl Tagon was a Retired Badass who looked quite happy and healthy despite his age and bald spot. When the entire galaxy gained immortality, he started growing his hair back, to the approval of his female subordinates... but he kept it gray.
Karl: I said I don't want to look old. I still want to look awesome.

  • In The Nostalgia Critic's review of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer, he insists that he's not into old women, but if you took like, two wrinkles out of Grandma's face, change the hair and glasses, "She's kind of a bombshell!"
  • In Twelve Hundred Ghosts Scrooge yelling at Bob Cratchit over stealing coal transitions into Bob thinking it was the hottest thing he'd ever seen.

    Western Animation
  • Amphibia: Sylvia Sundew is in a good shape despite being an elderly frog, and both Hop Pop and Monroe find her very attractive. In "Family Fishing Trip", even Sprig gets distracted by her flowing hair.
  • Archer:
    • Season 7 introduces Veronica Deane, a 50-something movie star who's attractive enough that every man in the office comments on it, including Ray.
Ray: She almost makes me Q my G.explanation
    • Mallory Archer, meanwhile, is a mixed example. She has the gorgeous silver hair, sexy figure, and dazzling sexual appeal that earns her plenty of gentlemen callers and she has dozens of former lovers all over the globe. But her adherence to this trope is only skin deep. While she's dignified and composed in comparison to the rest of the cast, Mallory is a shrill, demanding, and selfish old woman who torments everyone around her for her own amusement.
  • Avatar The Last Air Bender General Iroh can be considered this, especially after his workout.
    • In the sequel, The Legend of Korra there are many characters that fit this trope: Tenzin, Pema, Lin, Suyin...
  • On Batman Beyond, Talia allows an aged Bruce to use one of her father's old Lazarus Pits, but specifically leaves some of his hair gray to look more distinguished. Ra's al Ghul himself went for the same look. Which makes sense, since Bruce is actually being groomed as his new body...
  • Big Hero 6: The Series: In the episode, "Fear Not", Wasabi envisions becoming a successful SFIT professor when he has to fill in for an absentee. His Imagine Spot shows that he still has his good looks in his senior years.
  • Gravity Falls: Stan is sometimes considered a Silver Fox.
    • You probably will think people are joking, but there exist many fans who find Grunkle Stan very handsome. There's a reason why they call him "Hunkle". Many like how he looks, specially in episodes like: "Double Dipper", "Boss Mabel" or "The Stanchurian Candidate". Also they love his looks in "Scary-oke". In canon, there's very subtle tips of Stan being a silver fox:
      • In "Dipper vs Manliness" Lazy Susan falls in love with Stan.
      • In "The Stanchurian Candidate", Tad Strange and Sheriff Blubs find Stan good-looking in his new outfit.
      • In "The Stanchurian Candidate", Mabel says that Stan has some kind of charisma.
    • The Author of the Journals is in his sixties with gray hair and stubble but is still quite fit and attractive, unlike his twin brother, Stanley Pines. Pacifica calls him hot in Gravity Falls: Lost Legends. In the blacklight edition of Gravity Falls: Journal 3, he writes a note to "figure out what a 'Silver Fox' is and why everyone keeps calling me one."
      • A group of fans even made a video game titled "Swooning Over Stans: A Grunkle Dating Sim", where you can choose if you want to date Stan or Ford. Can you believe Alex Hirsch played this game and the fans chose Stan's route?
  • Mrs. Anna Twombly from Littlest Pet Shop (2012). Aside from her glasses and grayed hair, she looks no different than her younger self shown in "Lotsa Luck!". A few male characters have flirted with her.
  • Eda the Owl Lady of The Owl House. Luz describes her as "Surprisingly foxy for her age." Word of God says she's only in her mid-to-late 40s but her curse has caused her to age prematurely.
  • The Smurfs (1981): Only implied by Flowerbell about Papa Smurf in the episode "Papa's Wedding Day" when she's trying to win his heart. As hinted in one of The Smurfs comic book one-page gags, strip away Papa Smurf's beard and he would look no different in appearance from an ordinary male Smurf.
  • Voltron: Legendary Defender: King Alfor's white hair seems to be a hereditary trait as opposed to being a sign of age (since he's had it since youth, as does his daughter Allura). Still, this doesn't stop him from being drawn fit and handsome even in old age.

Markiplier is informed that he looks just like the CGI Col. Sanders, and is flattered by the resemblance at how right it feels.

How well does it match the trope?
