Death saves the little match girl, even against the rules of his job, in Hogfather. The reason he gives? Even though Death can't give back life, the Hogfather gives gifts, and what greater gift than the give of the future?
Polly stepped inside, heart pounding, and there was Paul. And there was a buzzard, on a perch by the open window. And on the wall, where Paul was working so intensely that his tongue was sticking out of the corner of his mouth and he hadn't even noticed the door opening, was another buzzard, flying in the heart of the sunrise.

When Brutha finds himself in the Afterlife Desert he find Vorbis still huddled, terrified, on his rock. Death reminds Brutha of who and what Vorbis was, to which Brutha answers: 'I know, he's Vorbis. And I'm me.' Then he takes his would-be nemesis by the hand and together they walk towards whatever awaits beyond the Desert.
Near the end of Soul Music, Buddy's rendition of Sioni Bod Da, followed by a rock version. It manages to make CMOT Dibbler think of something other than money, things that you couldn't sell and shouldn't try...
