Is the whole issue with Nick's questionable higher ups and issues like Dan Schneider and the whole Drake and Josh thing liable with Paramount's stuff?

I dunno about the higher ups, but we’ve been using the Quiet on Set thread to talk about the Dan Schneider stuff.

I'm getting a vibe that the reason Paramount is removing all those Nick shows is 'cause their streaming service's days are numbered; nothing tax-related. They might be moved to Netflix or something.

Fear it... or not.

Paramount's streaming service may actually be one of its saving graces as the news reports on it indicate that it's doing better rather than worse.

[up][up] No but I'm seeing people on the Birdie thing think that'll happen, especially after a sale takes place.

Whatever the case, the initial show removals led me to cancel my subscription (but that's not the only reason I did so).

I still have mine because Lower Decks and Knuckles.

If I need to cancel, I’ll do once I can by all the episodes on blu ray or digital.

I subscribe to Paramount+ as a channel within Prime Video. And yet there's still content that's only on Paramount+ itself, showing how media companies are strapped for cash and desperate for people actually signing up for their streaming.

Some news. Apollo Global made a $27 Billion bid for the whole company, but was rejected. Source is Variety.

“It’s not clear why Paramount rejected the Apollo Global bid”.

I don’t know maybe because it’s a private equity company, they have a really long history of shredding anything they get into contact with and maybe the committee actually values the idea of Paramount remaining as a long-term thing that doesn’t get treated like WB did under AT&T?

Selling to a private equity company is basically a death sentence.

Wanting to sell the whole company and not split it up actually points towards the committee wanting to keep Paramount as a viable force going forward too, because it’d be really hard for Universal to justify buying it (and Disney can’t buy it) and WBD’s attempt seems to have flopped. If it can’t be split up, the competitors can’t buy it, people going for only one bit of it can’t get at it, and it makes it way less valuable as just a content mine.

I’m guessing the committee is trying to engineer an arrangement where anyone who buys it basically has to keep Paramount going at full tilt.

The other reason for rejecting Apollo is that Shari Redstone, who owns controlling interest of Paramount Global prefers Skydance Media. And they seem to be closer towards a deal with Skydance Media, with whom Paramount already has a relationship with, and Skydance indicated that they won’t be breaking up the company. Apparently because of this the stocks jumped up 15%.

‘’The two sides have established a 30-day exclusive negotiating window, Deadline has learned, a sign that things are moving forward more decisively after months of speculation. Paramount will not engage with other parties on a deal for 30 days.’’

Not sure, but I have an article from Deadline: Bob Bakish is likely to be removed as Paramount CEO as a result of the potential sale.

So, if Paramount does eventually get bought out, what properties do you think will be removed, depending on what company buys them out?

It’s all there in the article…

Actually, I’m sorry, it’s not. I just looked again. It only mentions the thing about Showtime and that’s it.

The Wrap just posted an article saying the Apollo-Sony deal could be better and that Bakish’s strategy might pay out long term.
