Since we have a thread for improving the descriptions for tropes, I thought I would make one for improving descriptions for works. This is also a good place for requesting creator page cleaning.
Here are some common problems with many work descriptions:
- Over-analytical Walls of Text: Many works that have a high Troper Critical Mass have egregiously long descriptions, and could use some trimming, possibly moving some of it to the Analysis page.
- Critical reception/audience reaction cruft: "Edit Tip #12: We are not interested in whether or not something is or was popular. Whether or not it was liked has nothing to do with tropes." In other words, work descriptions should not contain paragraphs nor any mention at all about how the work was received. Zap it.
- Editorialism: A similar issue to the above, some tropers have a tendency to try to sneak stealth reviews into works' descriptions. This is obvious deletion fodder - Kill It with Fire.
- Plagiarism: Copy-pasted text from another source, such as Wikipedia.
So just post any work or creator page descriptions that are in need of cleanup and we'll see what we can do.

ComicBook.Daredevil has a whole bunch of comments about critical response and fan reaction, both for the comic (e.g. boring villains, well received stories) and some of its adaptations.
I assume we want to cut all of that out of the work page and leave it as ymmv only, as per pinned post? I'll make a start, but if anyone else feels they can assist, the more the merrier.

hi, VideoGame.B Ark 2021's description is incredibly short and lacking info, and from what i can tell the page creator has yet to try and expand it so bringing the page here seemed like the best action
Stan GaruKaru for clear skinConsidering how much detail the top of Series.Schmigadoon goes into the first season's supporting cast, should the section about Season Two give its supporting cast the same treatment?
Just looking at Terry-Thomas - does it really need to talk about the status of his Wikipedia page?
It may be getting to the point where it’s time to merge Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Amazon Studios. I noticed with Totally Killer that they are starting to credit themselves ast Amazon MGM Studios. We may want to keep an eye on that.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. So we’re we gonna have the Hazbin Hotel series share the same page as it’s pilot or we’re we gonna make it it’s own page?

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. As I've mentioned a few times, that would depend if it will remain the pilot or the series fully overwrites it, if the former then there's no reason to split it.

TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupWell, I’ve wound up making a page for it.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Hazbin Hotel (2024) for reference.
To me it's unclear if it'll be a separate work. We don't split adapations unless there are a lot of story changes either.
TroperWall / WikiMagic CleanupSo what do we do now? We wait or cut?
I preordered early access so I think we can just wait for the episodes, and make a judgement from there.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Since it follows the work page guidelines, I suppose if 2024 ends up carrying on from the pilot and it's deemed not a separate work, it can be redirected back.
I appreciate that.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Okay, according to Twitter, the pilot isn’t going to be remade for the show, but we don’t know if it’s still canon.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. The Stainless Steel Rat has a very long description, most of it taken up by the setting, but it rarely comes up in the actual novels. I think I could cut it down to half its length, but first I would welcome any input.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.I’m looking at the burial. And yeah, I think we’re gonna need a new page for Amazon MGM Studios. Not exactly a combination, maybe a page for the combination of these two studios.
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire. While I've only read a bare minimum of The Stainless Steel Rat, I agree that the description could have most of the setting part trimmed.
I rewrote it to focus on what I think matters.
Stories don't tell us monsters exist; we knew that already. They show us that monsters can be trademarked and milked for years.Literature.Chronicles Of Blood And Stone may have a sketchy description that needs a look. I doubt having a hatedom is worth mentioning in the main description.
she/her | TRS needs your help! | Contributor of Trope ReportNot sure if this the right place to ask but worth a shot. Joji Nakata's roles have, next to them, parenthesis on wheter the roles of villains or heroes (or somewhere in between). This seems to be a fodder from the older days of the site since Nakata isn't as typcasted as he was back then. Safe to remove them?

Made a page for director Paul King. You guys have any notes?
The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Okay it’s been a while, but someone created a page for the Fallout (2024) show - ahead of the trailer - and the plot description needs some work.
Very limited information has been released so far, with some of the show's details being unveiled in a first-look by Vanity Fair. Unlike other previous video-game adaptations, Fallout will not be a direct adaptation of any prior game in the series. Rather, it would tell its own story set within the universe of games and incorporate their elements into the show.

The Owl House and Coyote Vs Acme are my Roman Empire.Description has been made more concise; for reference, the current version as of this post is the following:
However, all that is about to change. A sudden crisis forces Lucy (Ella Purnell), the daughter of the vault's overseer, to leave her safe and sheltered community for the wasteland. In the course of her journey, she crosses paths with many of the wasteland's hardened inhabitants, including Maximus (Aaron Molton), a squire in the knightly order known as the Brotherhood of Steel, and a mysterious bounty hunter known only as "The Ghoul" (Walton Goggins), a deformed mutant who witnessed the nuclear war with his own eyes.
Does the boast on Creator.Pedro Pascal about Pascal's 2023 Emmy nominations look worth keeping even after he didn't win any of them?
The Star Wars Holiday Special has this paragraph, recommending several snarky reviews of the special, which seems off-mission, or indulging in reception-adjacent commentary at best. Cut?
