Sooo. Anyone remember their first run of the Water Temple from Oo T? Well Terminal Montage does and he summarized hell in 10 minutes.

man, Zelda fans keep hyping up the water temple as the worst dungeon ever as if it killed their families and sacrificed their firstborns to the japanese deities.

it‘s just tedious, nothing more.

   Well, excuuuuuuuuse

So, is Spirit Temple or Shadow Temple next? Everyone always does the first three in that order, but I can never get a bead on what order the last two were meant to be played in.

I did learn you can do Spirit before Shadow but I always did Shadow Temple first out of sheer habit.

I remember the big book guide telling me to do the shadow temple after the water temple so that what I do normally.

The order of the Medallions in the item screen makes it look like it should be Spirit before Shadow, but the "official" order is Shadow before Spirit. Navi's hints lead you to do the Bottom of the Well and Shadow Temple first, it's a more obvious order you would stumble on since the cutscene in Kakariko activates once you've completed the first three temples, and there's a use for the Lens of Truth and Hover Boots in the desert and Spirit Temples whereas there's no use for the Silver Gauntlets or Mirror Shield in or around the Shadow Temple.

I find it funny that there's no way to get into the Shadow Temple area without the teleportation song. It's really disconnected from everything.

I mean yeah, a tedious and overall unfun dungeon sucks, especially when its in what is often called the greatest game of all time.

Honestly, I much prefer the Water Temple over Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly.

[up][up]And the entrance to the Shadow Temple is hidden from the map until the first time you warp there, no less!

Tedious, eh...

Well it's probably only as tedious as it looked, which the video showed off very well.

Putting on and taking off the iron boots never really bothered me, but the whirlpool corridor makes me want to die. The Water Temple is the worst dungeon in the game for that corridor alone.

Holistically speaking, the least fun dungeon is the Fire Temple, imho. Probably because it's so visually samey. Volvagia and the Goron rescue gimmick are fantastic, though.

Funny how Water Temple in Oo T is hated because of how over complicated and annoying it is, while Water Temple in Tot K is disliked for being bland and simplistic.

I think that's down to "It's an underwater level!" Great Bay Temple actually does a lot to help guide the player, which I always found keeps it fun.

Funny how Water Temple in OOT is hated because of how over complicated and annoying it is, while Water Temple in TOTK is disliked for being bland and simplistic.

I don't think the sentiments are mutually exclusive. While I don't think the OOT Water Temple is bad, I can at least understand why most people is wary towards it, as it relies on mechanics that take a lot of patience (switching boots, chaning the water level, and fighting underwater). The problem with TOTK's Water Temple is that, for starters, its individual areas feel too disjointed, feeling more like unrelated challenges to activate the valves that unlock the boss. With the other temples in the game, the design is at least more cohesive and better put together. Also, like I mentioned before, it should have been placed within a cave, probably somewhere beyond the Zora Waterworks; the gimmick of going to the sky made sense for the Wind Temple, just not with this one.

I think Great Bay Temple and Lakebed Temple are good examples of balanced water dungeons. Not particularly complex, but not oversimplified either. In the former, as long as you pay attention to the color-coded pipes so you can tell where the missing windup levers are, you'll be good. And in the latter, simply check which rooms lack water and then pull the appropriate switch to move the staircase so it takes the water there.

Yea, Water Temple in the sky was just baffling, especially since Wind Temple did that and utilizes its party member to good use. You'd think it would be a sludge dungeon for Sidon's cleaning ability to reach but nope. Maybe have the dungeon near Mt Lanayru and the sludge cover the whole map, with Sidon's waters to uncover the path.

I hate A Ltt P's Swamp Palace because I keep calling Misery Mire that, which is in an actual swamp at least. Swamp Palace is just.....THERE on the map as well, not feeling unique in its placement or important like the other dungeons.

Dark World water dungeon should have been in the Zora region, which you never see in the Dark World.

I'd have expanded the fish sky island a bit or changed it so that it gives you the coordinates or code to access and underground water temple in a cave.

Tot K sold 20.61 million while Bot W is up to 31.85.

Tot K would have sold 88 BILLION if only the Water Temple wasn't in the sky.

Great Bay is my least favorite dungeon in the series, followed closely by Snowhead. It probably wasn't the best idea to put such tricky dungeons in the only Zelda where time is of the essence.

Which sucks, because Woodfall and Stone Tower are peak.

[up] Genius. He'd be great.
