* The Gloss is a powerful Wordchain cast by Aulia Velra, manipulating events across Earth to bring fortune to the whole Velra family. Superhero Keiko basically trips her way into busting a human trafficking ring, and the second Aimi Velra goes looking for Alden, she just happens to find him standing alone in a park. But it gets really [[FridgeHorror disturbing]] when you realize just how much of the plot of the book depends on it. Alden got Selected early, with the exact Class and Subclass that Andrzej wanted to trade Chainer for, they both logged onto the trade table at exactly the right time to make the trade without anyone knowing, and then Alden *just happened* to be going to Anesidora on unrelated business on the exact day they needed him to. Of course, being a Wordchain it's subject to [[EquivalentExchange]], and the resulting backlash costs Lute his eye and Aulia her seat on the Council.

* It's also incredibly dumb, but Stu-art'h staying conscious and wanting to keep fighting despite having his foot bitten off tells you a lot about him.
* Literally no human has ever learned to cast wizard magic, and most think it's impossible. But Kibby is desperate and lonely, and nobody told her it wasn't possible.
* There's a reason Alden describes the Knights as "Intensity Level 99.9" - the Primary sliced a Demon a substantial fraction of the size of a Moon apart. The Quarternary is solving Moon Thegund's little Chaos problem by practically re-arranging its geology, and she considers it a vacation.
* Alden and Kibby survive for more than half a year in the Chaos-infested side of Moon Thegund by hunkering down in [[MadScientistLaboratory Joe's workshop]]. Then when it's clear help won't arrive in time, they fix up a space-car and drive it as far as they can before Alden picks up Kibby to shield her with his power and *runs for three days* to reach safety.
* The Quarternary honors Alden's survival and rescue of Kibby with a Commendation for "Extraordinary Bravery in the Absence of Obligation". Alden continuously downplays it, but everyone who hears about it is shocked.
* The Superhero Program at Celena North High School only accepts a handful of B-Rank students a year, and even most A-Ranks don't qualify. Rabbit isn't a Hero Class. But judged purely on his performance, without knowing his Rank and Class, the neutral observers watching his tryouts are leaning towards accepting him. It's only knowing that he's a B-Rank Rabbit that changes their minds, forcing Alden to rely on his Commendation for admittance.
* Aulia, one of the most powerful people on Anesidora, tries to matchmake Alden with her daughter Hazel. While standing in the middle of a whole party full of Velras, instead of playing along Alden turns around and publicly accuses Hazel of using her powers on him, completely flipping the script. It's a long-awaited and much-deserved comeuppance.
