“Adopted” is…generous.
Oh God! Natural light!I'm a generous guy.
Phew, eventually did it, but at the cost of Rhys. It's just so damn hard to keep him alive when the AI love to go after him, if Shinon doesn't draw them in.
Hmmm, well the aggressive strat is usually to have Titania just solo the bottom (with maybe some help getting started from Gatrie and/or Shinon), then have the rest of the team fight the stuff coming from the left.
Alternatively, enemies never come from the top right, so you can just shove everyone squishy up there, then form a diagonal wall with Titania, Gatrie and/or Shinon blocking both the seize point and access to that area. Then just wait the enemy out there. If someone gets too beat up, have Rhys heal, then use your other units to Rescue->Take->Drop to get him out of harm's way, but also able to heal again next turn.
EDIT: Oops, guess I started my reply too late.

FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiRedid the map one more time with that strategy in mind. It was down to the wire, but nobody died. Oscar and Shinon ended up bating most of the enemies.
Yeah, Fire Emblem on harder difficulties is basically "how much can I abuse my Jagen unit?"
there's a reason awakening is called "frederick emblem"
Song of the SirensEven though Frederick isn't conventionally at the forefront for that long. And depending entirely on him will legitimately get you into trouble. Most of the time, you just want to lean on the Jagen to make enough safe space for the other units to train before they take over (although there is a definite temptation to just forego that and actually solo most of the game with Seth, or the most of the Dawn Brigade sections with Sothe).
I would definitely say there is an argument for "How much can I abuse my Avatar Unit?" in FE12 forward, though.

FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiCan Seth not solo his entire game?
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Pretty close. There are places he'll probably want the other pre-promos helping, since he can't be everywhere at once. Similarly, Sothe with forged Iron Knives will tear through the Dawn Brigade chapters, but he can't be everywhere at once, so sometimes he might want the likes of Volug, Tauroneo, Tormod, etc. to do stuff.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiI find it hilarious Shadow Dragon has two of them, the man himself, and Caeda's forged Wing Spear. Helps she has good growths.
Part of that has to do with the enemy's poor choose in team comp. Spamming horses would be a good idea if Caeda didn't have a super weapon against them, and the Spd to always double. When the enemy wises up in New Mystery, can see Caeda's usability drop a lot, since she's not effective against 90% of the enemy, making her low Str an actual problem.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiDamn it, Boyd's dead. I really feel the deaths in Path more than other games I've played so far, the other mercenaries show up a lot in scenes to provide conversations, they aren't one and done like usual.
What were the devs thinking, giving a Lance version of the Rapier to a character with high mobility in a game where cav/armor dominates enemy comp?
Then again FE1 Marth was pretty broken himself, so it's nothing completely new.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does. You ironmanning?
I want to Iron Man, but I just can't do it. I restarted my file and tried again, still on Hard.
So is Soren just completely useless, or is he an Est in disguise? At least on Hard, going through the first 7 chapters again, there's almost no safe way to make him viable. Enemies just don't have enough Res advantage to make it worthwhile. With how swarm-heavy the maps are, and your very limited pool of units, it feels like the game forces you to just rely on Shinon, Titania, and Oscar, to an extent to do anything. Ike flat out sucks, with how many lance units are around, sending him to do anything other than mop up kills is suicide.
I remember him being stupidly powerful, but I always get lucky with FE level ups. He was always really good at doubling and avoiding as well.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerSoren is generally fine if you raise him, but Tellius is a bit unkind to mages, so none of them will ever feel super strong. You could safely bench him and not have any issues.
Ike has somewhat sketchy bases, and volatile growths (mostly coin flips). That said, the early enemy axes should be weak enough for him to aggressively farm them, then his stats should generally be high enough to not worry about WTD after that.
FE: Genealogy Story Run 7PM PT Sun, Mon, Fri; Expert Unicorn Overlord 7PM PT Wed, Thurs: http://www.twitch.tv/kuroitsubasatenshiThe limiting factor for both Ike and Soren is that they're both footlocks in a game that heavily favors mounted units because of Canto. You obviously want Ike to get good enough stats for a certain late-game chapter but beyond that you kinda have to feed him kills and hope his coin flip growths fall in your favor.
INT is knowing a tomato is a fruit. WIS is knowing it doesn't belong in a fruit salad. CHA is convincing people that it does.Well, he can at least not die in the first two hits, so he's better than Roy, I guess. But man, how the hell does he get such a huge badass reputation, when he's average to middling in gameplay?
His strength is very heavily back loaded. And there's also Radiant Dawn.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.TBH with exceptions I prefer Fire Emblem lords to be weak. If they where awesomely strong it would sort of beat the point of these being strategy games where you lead an army.
You can just say your exception is Edelgard.

Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Thales: You fools! If you don't give us access to the holy tomb to retrieve the relics and the body of Nemesis then we can't win against the Empire.
Rhea: Why should I help you?
Thales: Because this is Scarlet Blaze, and that means I don't have my writer contrivance Kaga mind control device, and if I don't have that device, then Edelgard is going to.... going to.....
Edelgard: Oh don't mind us. By all means....give me some ideas.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.
