Not going to lie, when I first saw that trailer, I thought Dazai was being frozen in ice. Also, Tao looks like she's got the same uh-oh red lines on her body that the Nahobino does at one point?
I'm definitely curious to see where this goes.
The English description of todays trailer honestly makes the theory that three of the later songs are in Japanese cause they’re Route themes more likely.
Specifically:

The three track titles in between "Battle - (her and) Deepest Void" and "Battle - the Adversary" scream "route end cutscenes" to me.

I remember them from Strange Journey and maybe the first Devil Survivor game.
I remember Kudlak from the Devil Children RTS game where he’s a chibi bird who tried to Marin Karin a boy to fight against the villains and you have to rescue him when it fails and he runs off to fight them himself.
Also Devil Survivor where one of the questlines was about Kudlak being a serial killer.

A Null Physical, Multi-Strike Kresnik carried me pretty well during the early stages of Devil Survivor 2's Battle Royale With Cheese. Since I can't play Soul Hackers 2 and didn't read far enough into the Devil Survivor 1 manga for him to appear it's cool to finally see him from the front!
I have to say it’s really nice we’ve got a bunch of themes between different characters for Vengeance. I think only Abdiel and Dazai got one in the original. Now we’ve got Tao and Tsukuyomi, Tao and Yoko, Dazai and Yuzuru, etc:

Eirikjrs noticed via Altus twitter there’s another new demon on an employees screen with lower tiered demons.
Noticeable since two previews have mention more than just the 40+ demons.

Anyone else hates it in SMT lategame where your level is already higher than most races' strongest demons that you're having trouble fusing anything worthwhile?
I'm at that point in Nocturne and it's killing my motivation tbh. Doesn't help that most high level demons are Deity and Tyrant, which are hard as fuck to fuse in this game.

Seeing Echidna's children doing a combo attack really makes me hope that we'll actually get Echidna in Vengeance, given the whole theme of snakes.
I'm not holding my breath on that one though; I just think she'd be a really nice addition, especially since I don't think she's been in any of the mainline games since the first one.

Both of Daichi's paths, Liberator and Restorer/Triumphant are done now, so that's a wrap for the Septentrione Arc! Y'know, Beast has never been a race that I've thought much about, in any MegaTen game, since it doesn't get anywhere near the sort of glamour that Tyrant, Deity, Herald, Fiend, etc. do but Fenrir really comes in clutch at the end here letting you run away from battles when extra turns are in play, even when Polaris is attacking from infinite range. Big, big help in dealing with Polaris B, and Fenrir being a good Multi-Strike user on top of that doesn't hurt either.
Talking only about the base content from the original DS game ATM, Devil Survivor 2 having a more larger-than-life scenario and more exaggerated characters compared to the first game definitely has a whiff of boardroom committee "give the IP more mass appeal" mandate but honestly I think it makes a good companion to the first game's very solid iteration on the classic Digital Devil Story/Shin Megami Tensei I premise. Marrying the usual world recreation conceit to high-concept sci-fi is completely up my alley, and then keeping the spotlight firmly fixed on the humans' struggles and motivations from beginning to end was a smart move IMO. There are areas where the writing bobbles the ball, but I can appreciate the ambition of trying to write up a dozen characters with quite different personalities, histories, and perspectives, and then throwing them all together like they did. I think I mentioned this back when I liveblogged the game, but I feel like Joe was one of the most relatable characters of the whole cast (he and I are both Aquariuses; maybe that's why!) and he definitely had the most resonant line in the game for me when he chides Daichi for looking at the conflict shallowly and points out that there are people in the world who can't simply afford to "wait" ten years or more for the world to get "better". Believe me, I can certainly understand the fantasy of being able to sweep away all of the world's ills these days.
Meanwhile, in terms of pure entertainment value my favorite character was Fumi for being an endless fountain of snark and dry Comedic Sociopathy.
I love how they are course correcting and making sure you have NO shred of sympathy for the angels. I wonder how cartoonishly evil and pathetic they'll make Dazai in this run.
I'll still side with Dazai tho. Us losers have to stick together.
