What is Guns Vs. Swords about?

What exactly is Guns vs. Swords about? The descriptions seems like a debate between whether guns or swords are better, but it seems like examples are divided into three categories: 1. A fight between a gun user and sword user, 2. A debate whether which weapon is better, and 3. Two characters are contrasting each other by their weapons. Is there a clear definition of this trope? If so which of these three categories are misuses?

#2 could be seen as the discussed version of #1 although the description focuses too much on this aspect for my taste. #3 sounds like it's covered by Weapon-Based Characterization but I haven't seen the examples.

I think you may have gotten the three categories mixed up. #1 is the one category I wouldn't describe as "discussed".
