A discussion thread for the upcoming fourth installment in the Dragon Ball Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi series.

Very excited for it, and for the last time (I don't want to be annoying people), I will repeat that I hope that my personal dark horse character returns:

Spike the Devilman.

If not, I would at least hope Arale makes it in .

It IS fun to hit various characters with the Devilmite Beam and see how much damage it does to them.

One of the episodes in the "What If? Saga" even has you fight Mecha Frieza as him. (Unless I'm remembering the details wrong)

I really hope Devilman makes the cut and King Piccolo too for that matter.

You are corrent, the only thing is that he doesn't only fight Mecha Freezer, but also some of his soldiers before him, as wel as King Frost after, having Spike put an end to the invasion all by himself.

In general I hope the game includes "what-if" scenarios, since they can be a lot of fun. Here is one "What if none of the fighters for Universe 7 were available in the U7 vs U6 fight, and now the "B team" has to take their place?" So you have to win in a 5v5 with Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, Roshi and Mr. Satan.

It is gonna be pretty interesting seeing the newer characters being thrown into fun what-if scenarios like past Tenkaichis. You just know there's going to be a Burter vs Dsypo what-if thrown in there.

With how much technology has improved, and judging from the size of that giant empty roster we saw at the end of the trailer, I can't expect anything less than Spike and a lot of others from 3 being available.

God.

Monaka being playable is a possibility. I hope there's a Hercule vs Monaka what-if.

Just a reminder, the trailer roster has 164 character slots:

While it is indeed a lot, it is only slightly bigger than Tenkaichi 3, so there's a good chance some returning characters might be saved for DLC. Many insiders have said that characters from OG to Super and GT would be in, but I don't think they've said anything about movie characters, and it's especially glaring that the Japanese site for the game lists DBS Broly as just "Broly".

Not including characters from specials like Bardock, King Vegeta, Fasha or Future Gohan, Tenkaichi 3 had about 24 movie characters. If DBS Broly replaces DBZ Broly in the base roster, then there's chance of 21 character slots freed up, though with Goku (Super), Vegeta (Super), Frieza (Super), 17 (Super), Bergamo and Jiren, then that's 13 slots already taken up. There's also a chance some lesser characters like Frieza Soldier, Appule or Cui being cut to make room as well.

Mostly a wait-and-see situation, but food for thought. There is a slight chance the game might have more than 164 slots if those conspicuous arrows are any indication but that mighy be personal cope.

Since I haven't said it in THIS thread yet, my wish (hah! Wish, like with Dragon Balls) character would be Android 21.

I've heard some people say that SSG Goku's God Bind might be a signature move and not a blast 1 or 2 technique. Do you think it'd be a good thing to bring back signature moves from Raging Blast? It would add more uniqueness to every character's movesets.

x2 Having Android 21 would be awesome, and it would contribute to having one of my wishes come true: Being able to have a 5v5 with only female characters.

Listing some candidates, we have Android 18, Kale, Culiffa, Videl, Pan, Arale, Chi-Chi, Vados and Ribrianne. So adding Android 21 would be enough to make the dream come true.

Thirded on Android 21. She's my most wanted by far.

I wouldn't be surprised if Freeza soldier got cut for a named character.

Fourth'd on Android 21. Her and Towa and Mira are the only OCs from other media that I'm expecting to get into Sparking Zero (MAYBE Demigra and Fu)

Demigra and Fu would be neat, but I feel like they'd DLC. I do hope all those characters come with their transformations though, they got a good handful:

• Android 21: Base, Majin, Good, Evil
• Towa: Base, Darkness, Demon Goddess
• Mira: Base, Berserk, Super Mira, Final Form (fusion with Towa)
• Demigra: Demon God, Final Form, Makyoka Form
• Fu: Base, Super Fu, Demon Lord, Dogi-Dogi Absorbed

So Culiffa is a typo and not another translation of the name right? I'm still losing sleep over KU-LIL-LIN being official.

I hope Bulma is finally playable in a Pilaf Machkne.

I never played Raging Bladt. I'm fine with Blast 1, 2, and maybe a unique/generic powerup thing.

The English versions of the Dragon Ball games stick with the english dub versions. So don't fret, Kulilin will be Krillin, and Culiffa will be Caulifla.

Where did you even see the Japanese spelling of the names?

And also...it's always been official, Dragon Ball is a series of egotistical people who wear clothes that have their name boldly displayed on them.

Raging Blast is pretty much Tenkaichi in everything but name, for the PS360 era of gaming.

As for movesets The Tenkaichi series had the Blast 1 and 2 techniques of course, but the Raging Blast series replaced with with regular supers since they got rid of the blast stock mechanic, and made movesets customizable so you could switch up which supers your characters can have. Since we still have no idea what the HUD looks like, it could go either way, but I'm pretty sure they'll stick to the former due to the multiple Gokus and Vegetas.

I do hope they bring back signature moves from Raging Blast though, since giving every character unique attacks outside of the Blasts/Supers would make characters feel more fleshed out. And the team attacks, team attacks would be a nice returning thing.

x4 Oops, sorry. Culiffa was me seriously misspelling Caulifla, and not catching it will re-reading my comment before posting (I have so many misspelling I need to edit myself constantly). Again, sorry for whatever mental anguish I might have caused.

Additionaly, I would also love if Bulma was playable, since there is some nifty stuff that could be done with her gadget and capsules form early Dragon Ball.

A new interview with Jun Furutani has dropped! It's in French, but here's the bullet points:

• The devs are open to criticism and advice from all over the world, mostly through emailing and Twitter
• As for the time being Local Multiplayer won't be in the game, weirdly enough due to complications with Sony and Microsoft, but they are trying to find a solution around the situation (Personally speaking, this explanation kinda gives me Netlfix/Disney+ vibes)
• Supposedly it's not the first time this happened, as a similar situation happened when they were developing games on Xbox Series S (this part of the explanation sounds like a hardware limitation)
• GT will be included, though it's kinda vague whether or not it be for base game or DLC
• Fusions like Vegetto, Gogeta, and Gotenks are confirmed (Honestly seems like a given)
• The devs want to take their time working on the game without rushing the product out (which is probably why we still don't have a release date)
• A full story mode will be in, evolving from Tenkaichi 3's story
• Battle damage is confirmed, and fights will be longer (probably giving everyone more HP or something)
• The cover art has been finalized, supposedly with a Nakatsuru artstyle
• More trailers will be shown off as the months pass by
• They're putting special emphasis on the backgrounds (stages) to immerse players
• Characters from the Dragon Ball movies will be included, possibly up to Gohan Beast.

If we are getting GT then I would love to see Baby again, and Super 17.

That's might be why he was comfortable revealing that in this interview.

Personally speaking, the soft confirmation of GT and Movie characters kinda makes me believe that the trailer roster we've seen is NOT the final roster count. I've already seen people having trouble trying to put both canon and non-canon characters onto the roster with the way it's organized, but I get the feeling that since the devs are open to feedback from the fans, and that they don't want to rush development, they might try to make the roster as big as possible.

The fact that they already confirmed over 160 slots so far seems like they're pretty confident on that front.
