Derped on what I was saying. I've seen videos about it, it what I meant to say.

Henry even said it from the first episode: Tolerance is Extinction. Knowing what we do now, it will be very interesting looking back at all the episodes again, like Val Cooper appearances with the knowledge that she was aware at some point of Bastion's program, or the picture of Forge with Bastion off to the side. Bastion has been silently making plans for possibly decades, and seeing as this is government backed (or at least a secret sect of the UN), I wonder just how many dirty hands are involved...

There was a really good post on the other page about how Nimrod, for all his terrifying power, is ultimately a tragic figure. I'd like to add something they forgot; the tragedy of constantly having to tell people your name does NOT mean "pea-brained moron."

What did some of you make of Doom condemning what happened in Genosha despite being part of OZT?

[up][up] tbh "Do not mistake Doom's collusion as indifference to flagrant war crimes.". Is a pretty weak statement. Collusion is being okay with it.

So with Spider-Man having appeared, anyone want to hope they adapt Bastion's confrontation with Jameson?

I know this is based on operation zero tolerance. Which doesn't have a page here. But I'm kinda hoping for the quote from second coming.

Bastion: It is beyond our capacity to hate you. It is beyond our capacity to enjoy murdering you. We have grown beyond our capacity.

Demayo over on social media says the next comic we have to read is Uncanny X-Men#304 which is the defection issue. Most likely instead of Collosus siding with Magneto out of grief for Illyana, it's Rogue out of grief for Remy

I thought the most insane idea was Bastion infecting water supplies throughout the world to convert swaths of people to Sentinels but I guess dipping people into jars for some time makes that method moot

I look back on the first technovirus episode and Wolverine cures it by being infected with it and his mutation creates the antibodies. Wonder if thats a potential solution again

With Sunspot looking to fully ascend as an X-Men, I hope next season brings in more of the New Mutants.

Mirage, Cannonball, Karma, Wolfsbane, Magma, Magik, Cypher, Warlock, Warpath, etc. Lotta great characters there, a lot can be done even if just a couple show up.

I read some people saying that Doom as a Romani person would never associate with Baron Zemo & Hydra. Has Doom teamed up with Hydra in the comics before?

Not a big reader of Fantastic 4 comics, but from what I understand, while Doom has nobility and standards (the degree of which tends to vary from writer to writer), this doesn't stop him from working with other morally reprehensible villains like Zemo and Hydra if it advances his plans. Naturally Doom would hold them in disdain the entire time and betray/abandon them the moment he deems it advantageous.

Also, this doesn't feel like a full villain team-up so much as they are Bastions secret group of backers. People of power who fear and want to undermine mutants but don't want to be seen acting directly in the open. They see Bastion as a convenient proxy and provide him with funds, info, manpower, technology, etc but the plan is entirely Bastions. So Doom and Zemo aren't working together so much as donating to the same person.

And of course there is always the option of saying this is just a Doombot.

Depends on how far along Zemo's character development is. Early on he was a pretty typical neo-nazi, but sometime after the Thunderbolts he rejected all that racist stuff and tends to just go for "basic" fascist world domination. From memory, he's honestly kind of a Doom-lite? A prideful ass who thinks he could save everything if everything was under his boot. Technically that would also put them at odds, but this feels like a sensible collaboration to get rid of a mutual problem.

[up]You are more or less right. Zemo starts as a Neo-Nazi - because he was raised and abused into being one by his father, the original Baron Zemo who was one of Red Skull's goons in WWII - but after a bunch of character development he actually functionally becomes a communist or even anarchist in terms of ideals and beliefs, rejecting racism and wanting to overthrow corrupt governments... while still being an extremist who wants to conquer the planet for it's own good, but in a Stalinist way rather than a Hitler way.

Doom would still probably not want anything to do with him, as they're rivals for power and influence in the villain community, not to mention Doom holds grudges over everything and would never forget Zemo's parentage and worse behavior, even if Helmut no longer behaves like that. But he'd probably be able to tolerate it for this as he's less of a participant in any plan and more just a financier who has something to potentially gain, and seemingly a very half-hearted one at that judging by his displeasure with the Genosha attack and personal distaste for Bastion. If he and Zemo were more directly involved, Doom would doubtlessly try to betray him, but as long as they're basically uninvolved with one another beyond being in the same Skype call, he's willing to bite a bullet or two.

As for the Doom and Hydra thing, Doom probably hasn't to my memory. Mostly just because Doom is Doom and prefers to be in charge rather than team up with others, all that leaving aside the whole "he's Romani, they're descended from Nazis" thing and the fact that they have functionally the same goals but radically different ideas of how to do it; Doom would absolutely not tolerate the idea of "sharing" the world with other villains, let alone ones he hates.

Doom 100% thinks everyone is beneath him. As [up] said, he'd never work with other villains. He'd force them to work FOR him, with the exception of whatever single digit number of them he respects enough to deign them worthy of being called and equal (though still inferior).

Doom's gonna doom.

Doom's ego is equal in size to the planet itself at least. In the totality of his history in the comics, he has admitted to being wrong and inferior at anything to somebody else ONCE and never again before or since. He is the male version of the "I'm God's favorite princess and the most interesting girl in the world" meme.

The 2020 Guardians of the Galaxy run had this really badass quote by Doom after he stomps the whole Guardians team.

"King of Space. Master of the Sun. You claim such vast dominions. Is it to balance your small souls? Could I not lay claim to the light and the void, if I wished it? Have I not earned such titles? I, who have mastered all arts, all sciences, all secrets? Whose technology and magic cross the stars as easily as they scramble an alpha telepath's mind? Who would dare to say I have not earned the right? Yet I am king of only a simple nation. On a simple planet. A beloved garden tended by iron hands. And the only title I have ever claimed... is doctor."

Too bad no Reed, Tony or Stephen around to say "You aren't a real doctor, Victor". Surprising that calling him "Mister Doom" isn't a more common diss, really.
