It makes sense when buying at retail. Clueless parents/grandparents can just say "I want an Xbox" and the worker will likely know what they want.
Online market listings on the other hand...
I'm still surprised Hellblade II is the announce game and I like Hellblade.
Not me! I use Linux!

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I don't see any mention of hard disk space.
Ukrainian Red CrossWelp, here comes an info dump:
Official page lists lanuch date as this US Thanksgiving (late November).
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Source code for the GPU has potentially been stolen. The thief is threatening to release it if they don't find a buyer.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? The Series X logo may have been leaked through trademarks.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."How long do you think the next generation of consoles will last?
Depends on how you define the start and end of a generation.
Microsoft first entered the console wars in generation 5. Did this generation start with the launch of the Dreamcast in 1998? Well, the final PS1 game, a Japan-only port of Strider Hiryu, was released in 2006, two years after the launch of the XBox 0. So does that mean the 32 and 64 bit era lasted until 2006?
(For the sake of sanity, let's not consider homebrew).
Ukrainian Red CrossA while back there was an Ask The Tropers thread about if the Switch counts as a ninth-gen console or not. I thought it did, but upon looking into it, I realized that console generations are completely arbitrary and have no real start or endpoint.
The only things that have generations are the single platform holder's hardware. I.E. the Switch would be a seventh-gen Nintendo home console (eighth if you count the Virtual Boy).
Yeah, the only really meaningful distinction is between gens 1 and 2, and possibly the 8-bit era.
In gen 1, the console and all the games were a single unit; the games were interchangeable circuits that altered the behaviour of the console itself. Gen 2 used cartridges containing games in ROM form.
Gen 3, the 8-bit era, was the one that arose from the ashes of the crash of 1983, and was sort of a new beginning. Hardware manufacturers tended to release new consoles around the same time, and so it made sense to group those that were released and sold around the same time into generations.
Things started to get controversial in gen 7. Since the Wii was so much less powerful than the PS3 and X360, some individuals insisted it was a gen 6 console despite being the successor to the GameCube, which everyone agreed was gen 6. If generations mean anything, then yes, the Switch is absolutely gen 9 because it's the successor to the Wii U, which was gen 8.
Ukrainian Red CrossPeople say the Switch is still 8th gen because it released so much earlier than the PS5 and XBSX, but that never stopped them from calling the 360 a 7th gen console, even though it was out before the PS3 and Wii.
I don't base generations off of the specs of the hardware itself, I only base it off of when the hardware released.
Ergo, I consider the Dreamcast to be a sixth generation console alongside the PS 2, Game Cube, and Xbox.
However, generations do not exactly end until software stops being made for it. So to me, the sixth generation ended in 2013 when the PS 2's final game released.
This also means that technically the 7th generation is still ongoing because we keep getting Just Dance games on the Wii.
You know, I have to wonder why Pit is obsessed with this site. It’s gonna ruin his life!x5 Actually, Xbox entered the ring during the sixth gen of consoles.
First Inside Xbox featuring Series X games is on May 7th at 8 am PDT.

Microsoft is set to present some first-party games for the Xbox Series X for July 23. (Fingers crossed.)
They'll also be showing off some legit gameplay for Halo Infinite.
In other updates, while there's no confirmation nor denying the presence of the alleged Xbox Lockhart, we do have one interesting tidbit about it: in terms of graphics, while it doesn't necessarily kick as much ass as Series X does, the Xbox Lockhart seems to have enough power to kick more ass than the PS5 and won't as hefty a price tag as the Series X.
This is the Halloween of video game consoles, where there are several movies with the exact same name.
It's been 3000 years…
