My only idea for Pestilens I can came up with is to be able to choose how to amplify their own plague. Either increase certain debuff enemy would suffer, or what benefit to enhance for your own army. Or, just give them a benefit to NOT suffer penalties to being afflicted with Nurgle plague and instead receive their buffs instead. I mean, at least in Ao S, it was possible to ally Pestilens with Nurgle.

Here's the blog post for the final DLC lord, Malakai Makaison!

     New lords and units

- Malakai a slayer engineer, with the full advantages of both jobs, being unbreakable and focused on enhancing ranged units. He's a mostly ranged lord, tossing explosives, shooting with his repeater pistol or wacking enemies with his spanner if they get in melee. He excels at making his artillery better by giving them deranged munitions that turns one artillery unit's missiles magical while also increasing damage. His items allow him to create an Ao E buff that increase allies' missile damage and range or replenish and heal artillery units.

- Malakai's main campaign mechanic is simply called "Malakai's adventures". Each adventure is a series of quests against a specific race or powerful creature that leads Malakai to research his foe and enhance his war machines to make the perfect counter against that creature. Reaching the end of the questline leads to a quest battle and winning that battle grants great rewards, including the enhancement of an existing Dawi weapon and the development of the Spirit of Grungni, his ultimate weapon.

- The Spirit of Grungni is a massive airship that serves as Malakai's base while he's one the march. The blog post doesn't get into too much detail about just how it works, I imagine that will be left to the video on Thursday, but it provides support both on the campaign map and in battle, and is enhanced through completing quests in Malakai's adventures.

- Garagrim Ironfist is the new legendary hero for the Dwarfs. He is the son of Ungrim Ironfist and like his father, is a slayer. Unlike all other slayers in the game, he's an anti-infantry powerhouse who gives damage and magical attack buffs to his nearby allies, making him an ideal frontline unit rather than an anti-large specialist. He can deal Ao E damage around himself, has a ward save to make him difficult to kill and the more he slays, the more powerful he becomes.

- The new generic lord is the Daemon Slayer, a slayer lord who specializes in killing, shockingly, demons. With inherent magical attacks and the ability to buff other slayers by making himself and them unkillable, this lord excels at stopping a monster's rampage cold. Furthermore, the Daemon Slayer gains increased killing power when facing enemies that cause terror.

- The new generic hero is the Dragon Slayer, and his focus is on facing enemies with flaming attacks. Like the Daemon Slayer, he gains increased killing power against terrifying foes.

- The Doomseekers are an anti-infantry type of slayers, who are very similar to Garagrim. They dual-wield axes chained to their wrists and become whirlwinds of death when sent in the thick of an enemy formation.

- Slayer Pirates are a strange type of ranged infantry, being ranged slayers. They wield cutlasses and pistols. Their Ro R version has damage resistance as well.

- Grudge Raker Thunderers are shotgun-wielding ranged units, exchanging range for sheer firepower to adapt to the new type of warfare brought on by the Chaos Dwarfs. Like the blunderbuss-wielding Dawi Zharr, the Grudge Rakers excel at blasting apart enemy formations, but they deal good numbers against single entities as well.

- The Goblin Hewer is a strange, terrifying contraption invented by Malakai. The Goblin Hewer throws powerful axes to decimate the ranks of approaching infantry. Its attacks are fast and precise, making them quite capable at singling out parts of the battlefield. And because its crew is composed of slayers, should it run out of ammo it is quite capable of still making an impact on the battle.

- The Thunderbarge is the showcase unit for the Dwarfs in this DLC. A massive flying machine capable of saturating the battlefield in cannonballs and bombs, with a contingent of Grudge Rakers to protect it from other flying units or add their firepower to close ground units. This flying machine is quite slow normally, but it can be fueled by a special type of Bugman's brew to massively increase it's movement speed at the cost of constant damage as the airship tears itself apart from the strain. A final ability of the barge involves shooting a massive harpoon, which I assume is particularly effective against single targets.

     Legacy updates

- Grudges are getting an overhaul. The mechanic was starting to get stale, less encouraging campaign decisions and more being extra rewards for things you were already doing or punishing you for not doing things you no longer needed (or could no longer do).

- From now on, grudges will be made against any faction that commits wrongful actions against any Dwarf faction in the game. Every ten turns, an age of reckoning will start, asking you to strike out a certain number of grudges from the book. If you're successful at striking out grudges, you will gain increasing rewards, but a poor performance will give factional penalties.

- Legendary grudges are added to the book from the beginning of the campaign, giving massive rewards should they be struck out. The example given, destroying Skavenblight or Hellpit, allows you to summon armies of miners in your territory as they suffer fewer Skaven attacks. You can even set out to rebuild the Karaz Ankor and create a fast travel system between Karaks.

- Confederating other Dwarf factions is made easier by out-grudging them. If you strike out more grudges than other Dwarf factions, you can confederate them.

- The tech tree has been revamped. Since it was so massive, it's been split in two trees and had its effects updated. A few buildings have also been tweaked.

- The Forge has also received a minor update, making it give more rewards in smaller increments so that it feels more useful overall.

There will be an additional blog post later this week to talk about the other free content in this patch, including the FLC lord and the Nemesis Crown.

Are we going to have the strike out the grudge against Creative Assembly with this? Unfortunate, you know how the Longbeards enjoy a good grumble.

This looks simply amazing, especially Spirit of Grungni (it’s a good thing Malakai’s previous name idea got vetoed lol). Also, neat editing choices for this video. You’ll understand when you’ll hear it.

So, overall, how do you guys people rate this DLC? I got my chance to test out the Empire (Elspeth, Gelt and Franz) and Dwarfs (Malakai, Thogrim and Grombrindal). And, I am impressed by the new units. Even when playing as Franz without getting red line buffs, 2 units of Nuln Ironsides managed to shred 2 Vampire heroes attacking me during Silver Seal quest battle. And only one of them got trapped in the Net of Amyntok (the other died before I noticed how fast the health bar dropped). As for Dwarfs, I managed to test out Malakai’s Grapeshot ammo for Cannons. One team managed to shred a unit of Silver Helms before they got into melee. And, one salvo was enough to shred their health in half. Amazing.

Still need to try out Nurgle. I avoided them for a while due poor eco prior to the patch. And, I was thinking to maybe try to learn them first by playing Festus.

More like hilariously OP, especially when you factor in the wonky way the game handles aerial combat.

[up] They are so OP they got outried banned in competetive MP and will not be unbanned anytime soon. Also Legend Of Total War consideres them the stronget doomstak at the moment (at least under Malakai).

Well there was a patch in which they were nerfed (and had their hitbox fixed) today.
