and
The best thing is it did work later. Vector is heavily based off him and is now one of THE most popular and beloved bad guys in the franchise.
Even Yubel uses elements from bakura and is also now easily one one of the best liked bad guys in the franchise and easily the most popular gx vilain.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The only villain really posed as a Judai counterpart was Saiou as the light of destruction vs Judai's righteous darkness.
Unrelated but man Yugi oh ages are wild. Like Pegasus being just 24 is one of the wildest (to the pont that him dying of natural causes in 5ds makes me think the anime writers sincerly weren't aware).
But it's still not nearly as bad as Satorius being 17. Or Gauche, droxite and Kite/Kaito all being the same age.
Weirdest age you learned?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."It's still weird to remember that Yugi and Kaiba are the same age, considering their height difference.
Pegasus definitely takes it IMO. Might actually be retconned though; he’s only ever mentioned to be that young in one sourcebook that other sources contradict.
I was watching a tag force game where tea asked kaiba what he's doing for graduation. And it was hilarious as I sincerly didn't know they they were the same age.
Hoenstly I think so. Its super weird if so. He created a world wide craze got married and widowed in such a short period of time.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Just Kaiba? Yugi always looks like an elementary school kid hanging out with his big siblings.
Wake me up at your own risk.I mean Sartorius is funnier. He looks like he's in his late 40's.
Him being 17 and the same age as Phoenix and Jaden is hilarious.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Not to mention having the deep voice of Dio, who incidentally was 19 years old in his series.
Really late reply but reasons.
Though I'm Kinda curious? When does the incident that destroyed Domino city happen? As Gx shows it intact in season 2.
Uh is it? The show has been Vindicated by History. Like time has meant it's way more appreciated by people especially barian invasion. And frankly theirs alot to like. It has perhaps the best collection of vilains other than 5DS, gorgeous animation, really cool plot twists in the Second half.

"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."I assumed they meant which Zexal dub opening is being talked about? To which I assume they mean the first since that’s the more well-known one (though imo the second one is the better one.
Also in terms of Pegasus’s age, don’t think it was ever retconned. It’s shown explicitly in the manga and he only ever got married in the dub, anyways.
"Let’s see who’s stronger: someone that has something to protect, or someone that has nothing to lose."Uh I do think he's suposed to be older in the anime at least. Since duel monsters was being played by Grandpa Muto years ago with his anime only friend? (Rebecca's grandfather)
Oh yeah the second is definitely better. But I meant more generally about zexal as awohle
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Grampa and his friend looked the same age in that flashback, so it's not like that flashback had to have happened very long ago. And his friend technically exists in the manga, we just never meet him and it's likely Grampa was given the Blue-Eyes under less dramatic circumstances (I get the impression that he was given the card as a keepsake because it was a popular American game and it's said early in that manga that the game has only recently been sold in Japan and wasn't popular there yet).
I think a more suspect flashback which was in the manga too was Marik and Ishizu playing the card game back when they were younger and in that cave. I think the only way that works is if we assume Pegasus created the card game very soon after he turned 18 so it's been around for 5 or 6 years, it which case I think the flashback could barely fit since Marik himself is younger than most would think being the same age as Yugi.
A bigger anime-only problem are the flashbacks in the Doma arc. Maybe Valon is young enough that his younger self could have played Duel Monsters, but Rafael looks too old for his kid self to have those Guardian cards. Not to mention them being given Duel Disks by Dartz years before Kaiba invented them. I don't think the anime writers were thinking very hard about this.
So more of a general question?
So are Mahad and Kisara just the spirits of the og dark magician and blue eyes white dragon. Or are they the spirit of the entire archetype?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The former most likely. As the dm series also include DMG (as in Mana) and the BEWD decks include a religion centered on the dragon
Weirdly, a completely different Dark Sage spirit appears in 5D's, despite Sage explicitly being an older Magician.
In fairness that character was based off Miracle Flipper, who seemed to be designed as a childlike take on DM that isn't actually DM (same goes for Card Ejector, but for DMG)
Who would you guys consider each main heros Arch-Enemy. I know Yami Yugi Has Yami Bakura, Jaden has Yubel, Yuma has Vector, Yuga has otes?
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."- Yugi and Atem: Bakura
- Jaden: Light of Destruction
- Yusei: Z-ONE if any
- Yuma: Vector (kinda)
- Yuya: Himself
- Yusaku: Varis
- Yuga: Otes
- Yudias and the twins: prolly Zwijo

Oh wow, the 1999 Yu-Gi-Oh Toei movie has been restored from a Laserdisc print!

The Protomen enhanced my life.BTW zexal turned ten today.
I kinda appreciate that it did alot of outside the box stuff (Kite the rival usually winning over Yuma than jobbing) or vector vs shark (where let's be honest normally the rival fights the main villain. Ends badly and the hero has to step up to avenge him. Shark winning is still a legit shock).
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Also cool thing I found.
Someone got Wayne Grayson (Joey`s English VA) to do the Ra summoning chant so we can see how it sounds like if he did beat Marik.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."The official Yu-Gi-Oh timeline is messing with my head. Did you know Yugi Muto is actually older than Seto Kaiba? By like 5 months, Yugi was born in June 1980 while Seto was born in October 1980. Joey was born in January 1980, he's almost a full year older than Seto.
Yugi solves the Millennium Puzzle in 1996, meaning everyone is 16 for the first part of the series. Duelist Kingdom onward is set in 1997, meaning everyone is 17 for the most popular part of the series.

his evil counterpart was clearly <drumroll> himself! (Specifically the Supreme King persona)
