One Punch Man

New manga chapter: Void battles Flash and Sonic, though mostly Flash. Flash figures out that the whole using the flesh of the village ninjas to form himself was just Void using a genjutsu. What Void does have for real is the God cube. Flash tries fighting Void with his eyes closed to both sharpen his own combat skills and not fall prey to further tricks, but the genjutsu is a psychic attack rather than something you need to actually see. He makes Flash hallucinate being surrounded by Saitama's DEATH fists, then of having Sonic's decapitated head fall into Flash's lap. These distractions are enough for Void to use the cube on Flash, which takes him to a hallucination where him and Sonic escaped the village and are about to start over, except Sonic is GOD in disguise, and Flash is about to shake his hand as the chapter ends.

Needless to say, these are really intriguing developments. Literally none of this happens in the webcomic. I would have to assume that Flash doesn't get monsterized/god-possessed, or if he does that it won't be permanent. That'd be a hell of a thing to see regardless.

Void definitely got buffed from his Webcomic counterpart, for sure.

So Void is not really a body horror monster, but a illusion user. Well, that makes him a good counter to Flash. Even when you're fast, it's hard to hit an opponent if you're aiming in the wrong place.

And these illusions are psychic attacks that go straight to the brain, no eye contact needed. That's even more powerful than illusion attacks in most media which at least require eye contact.

Blast really pulled "Nothing personel kid" on Void.

I'm once again flabbergasted^note I love using this word but I so rarely get a chance to use it by how inconsistent chapter length is in this manga. This chapter was way shorter than the previous one.

Hard to say if this is one of those chapters that will get more pages in a couple of days or not. It's been a while since Murata did that.

Murata's been doing a shit ton of other projects, including creating his own independent anime, as has ONE with a few other manga with other Artists like Versus, so thats why the chapter length has been shorter lately.

Season 3 announced:

Honestly, it seems like J.C. Staff is being given a much better schedule this time, because just in these early trailer previews it already looks better then most of Season 2, especially when garou morphs into "Spiral Garou" (Blood soaked hair garou with the spiral looking energy coming from his chest.)

That, and apparently there were rumors and leaks months ago that a lot of Season 1 animators were freelancing for Season 3.

Hopefully the production's more solidly-organized so that Kenichiro Aoki doesn't have to carry almost the whole damn thing on his back again.

It should be, at least compared to when season 2 aired. Back then, apparently JC staff was doing almost 20 other shows in the same year, and Season 2 of OP is notorious within the industry as having possibly one of the worst production schedules ever for a Tv anime, like, they literally finished the animation within minutes of the episodes airing time level.

Okay, so weird news.

The last eight manga chapters - so the entirety of the Ninja attack arc after Saitama and Flashy fight - are being scrapped and redone.

So basically, it's the Phoenix Man/God Garou fight all over again.

I had really hoped that we were past this....

Blast went back and altered the past again.

How strong is this guy that he can go so ultimate-meta like this?

Don't you mean GOD?

After all, isn't it convenient that the retcon happened when Blast was about to "nothing personal" Empty Void?

Soooo was anything concretely said about the massive redraws that Murata had to do like in this instance? I know some people before noted how the initial submissions seem to clash with the underlying comedy/parody of Onepunch Man at times, but to redraw what seems to be an entire arc is excessive.

If I had to make an educated guess it would be all the stuff revolving around the monsterization and Blast's presence in this arc.

Webcomic spoilers both of the above mentioned things do not happen in the webcomic. Blast isn't there in any capacity, the Ninja training facility and THAT MAN aren't linked to God, there's no God cube. Sonic and Flash still fight the previous Ninja training facility year's best guys, and kill all of them. Saitama offscreens THAT MAN and gives Flash one of the swords reasoning "This replaces the one I broke so now we're even." end of arc.

Not gonna lie guys, I really wish he stopped doing that.

It is starting to feel like he is using the official release as an early draft at this point.

Murata started an independent animation studio, so now he's swamped with more work then ever. its why a lot of the recent chapters have been short and somewhat sloppy artwise. So I'm fine with it, especially if it gives better material for the Anime to work with.

to my surprise Blast is still there. Not only that but he gives full endorsement of Saitama as the one who ended Garou's threat - and the framing seems to imply that he might even remember the alternate timeline. Also the stuff about attempting to reverse the monsterization process is now completely gone. Whether it will be in a later chapter or not is anyone's guess.

Saitama’s ascension to just A-Rank 39# in the manga is making less sense with Blast now vouching for him, unlike in the webcomic which was as Flashy Flash believed Saitama only won against Garou after everyone else had weakened him first.

Webcomic Spoilers: Putting actual respect to Saitama’s name wouldn’t fit well with him joining his merry band of disrespected heroes who felt their Hero Names aren’t appropriate either; why wouldn’t a respected Saitama just ask for a new Hero Name point blank?

One of the monster of the martial arts tournament can be seen chained to a table through the glass, so it appears that the treatments are still there.

About the bad name association, anything could happen.

New redrawn chapter is out and in English if you know where to look.

Blast reveals his past with Empty Void, now known as That Man, to Flash and Saitama. The demonsterization experiment still goes on pretty much unchanged. As soon as the experiment is over though, Blast senses something and throws up a bubble shield around the entire city. The ground around the city is rent asunder; Blast confirming that it's an attack from That Man. The chapter ends on that note.

Redrwan chapter 197:

Empty void was revived because his spirit absorbed the God Power Garou had out of him after Saitama punched him via his time Travel "0 Punch".

Sure is a goofy thing to add in redraws.
