The first three Crash games were my entire childhood. Cortex Strikes Back was one of my first games ever. ;_; oh damn I have to replay all of them now ferjkfe

On the subject of newer games, I guess Twinsanity was okay and Wrath of Cortex had its moments.

Estimated shipping time: 2-4 weeks.

I was always a Spyro kind of guy, but my cousins had the Crash games and we played those all the time. I remember when we got to a boss and he joked that we would have to play it as Coco, and then Crash tripped.

The only one I myself owned was the first PS 2 game, which I really liked and because I was like, 10 and so the load times were more bearable.

Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!

[up][up]My favorite would be Pura's awww-inducing jumping in a circle with joy. Cortex's awkward kick, and N. Gin's, Komodo's, and Fake Crash's actually sweet moves closely follow.

Some of the losing animations were funny too. I liked how Crash and Coco were like "Screw this" and dozed off or used a laptop.

The Crash Dance (Bandicoot Shuffle?) is always a joy to behold.

[up]Yes, yes it is. No other character in anything has ever had such an epic victory dance.

It was so awesome, Naughty Dog made sure to implement it into Crash 2 and Warped.

A new Crash game that's like the Naughty Dog games needs to be made, with a few new things to make it stand out. I think expanding the boulder levels would be cool, seeing how a segment in Jak II was able to.

I always liked using Ripper Roo in CTR.

There's something just so awesome about the WAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAA! EHEHEHEHEHEHEHE!

Ripper Roo is just fantastic in all the games he's in. He's just so gloriously unhinged, even in the second game when he supposedly overcame his manias and became Doctor Roo.

I guess we could go... wherever we please.

Dingodile was a cool addition for Warped. Was probably the only lesser henchman of Cortex who actually had some semblance of brainpower, not to mention that his boss music was awesome.

Warped is basically my childhood.

I played that game for hours on end when I was a wee young lad.

My brother (and maybe me too) beat Warped when we were realsy little. Then one day I foolishly deleted all that game's save data, only to discover that Hog Ride (the eighth level) would no longer load. It wasn't till last year when I finally tried out a new copy of that game and beat it for the first time in ten or so years. To this day it is a fantastic game.

Anyone remember the secret (optional for 100%, I think) level in one o' them dino levels where you have to get carried off by a specific pterodactyl? You know, the kind that kills you? That was pretty dumb. There was another one you get to by knocking down a sign with an alien on it in one of the motorcycle levels. A little more clever, but there's still no way I would've found that without a guide. tongue

And then another really sillily*

hidden secret in the Game Boy Advance version of Crash Nitro Kart. I get the suspicion that the developers just forgot to place a wall tile in a random spot on one of the courses, noticed it during playtesting, and decided to place a stranded Fake Crash somewhere in the vast expanse outside the course instead of patching up the tiny gap. I am serious, that is how you unlock Fake Crash in that game.

I'm not crazy, I just don't give a darn!

Yeah, I probably wouldn't have figured out the secret levels in Warped without the help of a guide.

And really? That's... weird.

Oh yeah, I remember reading about them in a magazine and being like, "really? How the heck was I supposed to figure that out?" Nowadays, off-the-wall secrets like those are a real treat.

I really wish Naughty Dog would make just one more Crash game. ;_;

Failing that, a developer that can fake it convincingly.

Considering their post-Crash work, such as Jak & Daxter and Uncharted, it'd be great to see Naughty Dog come back and give this series some attention again.

So if they do Crash another game, we should expect a dark plot and cinematic platforming?

jkjk I freakin' love Jak and Uncharted

When I first played through Uncharted 1 last year, I was looking at the jungles and I just kept thinking, "If this looked a bit cartoonier, this setting would be perfect for Crash."

Though I don't think Naughty Dog is currently interested in making Crash or any Crash type game these days. I'm sure there is someone out there who could do a good job at it though. Honestly, I think we had a great developer with Radical, we just had a really shit publisher with Sierra. And another shit publisher with Activision and now we have no developer.

I haven't played a Crash game since Wrath of Cortex, so I wouldn't know, but the Radical-era games didn't seem so bad. I don't necessarily agree with all of the changes to characters, designs and personality-wise, but it didn't look too shabby from what I saw of my cousins playing it.

Yeah, I can't really defend everything they did, but their games were pretty competent, especially Mind Over Mutant. Sierra was just never willing to put serious time, effort, and money into this franchise, and the games never really reached their full potential. And the Crash 2010 concept art looked fantastic, but old Bobby Kotick musta gotten bored, so he decided to force a few people out of work and laid off the whole Crash team. Fuckin' industry.

Oh- oh man, do we seriously have a Crash thread now? The PSX Crash (and Spyro) games were my childhood.

I've got so many feels right now, I'm literally awash in nostalgia.

Same here. Well, that and Pokemon (and a few other games like X-Men vs. Street Fighter), but that's besides the point.
