I did actually start up Cold Steel 3, but it was super laggy on high settings. Trying to get it fixed, but okay, so apperently the Noble Alliance IS STILL around in some form, Arianrhod is back, and so are her three knights. Can't wait to bully Duvalie.

Arianrhod is voiced by the same actress as Rhea, and that amuses me. I'm still going all in with the idea that she's Rean's real mom, just like I did with Rhea, and I JUST KNOW I"M WRONG BUT MY GUT TELLS ME TO COMMIT TO THIS INSANE IDEA.

And then we get introduced to the new Class VII? I think? I might have forgotten if the thread told me, but ALTINA IS HERE!? She's part of Neo Class VII now? WHY!? Didn't she kidnap Rean's sister and be his watchful guardian during his very painful and hated job as Osborne's war hero?

MIGHT AS WELL MAKE MCBURN, DUVALIE AND BLEUBLANC PARTY MEMBERS!

Oh, and is that Juna I see? Huh, I would have thought she would hate Rean for y'know, keeping her home occupied. I genuinely thought she would have been one of the Crossbell resistance members and actively fighting against Rean as his new rival. I was off.

Also DEF doubly not romancing her because her voice actress Erika Harlacher played Ann from Persona 5 and I think anyone with a cursory knowledge of that game would know why I would feel uncomfortable with teacher-student romances.

There's also blond man and blue hair man voiced by Joe Zieja. Cool.

Okay, I know people expected me to be horrified by Musse, but she's HILARIOUS. Also she has a charismatic voice actress with Alex Tipton so I think I'll be fond of her.

But I just KNOW she's plotting something. Her proclamations of love are so over the top that I suspect she might be faking it. For some reason.

Oh I just LOVE characters that I can't tell the loyalty of. Will she be another Mariabell? Or Sharon? I think she's the one who intrigues me the most, those backstabbing eyes of hers.

Now if ONLY I could fix the absurd lag on my PC for Cold Steel 3. It can run Baldur's gate 3 with no problem.

Just be glad Altina is wearing something that doesn't make you feel like you belong in prison now. And she basically goes from Rean's handler to his surrogate daughter. And I think this game explicitly explains what she is.

Juna is complicated, but you'll learn her real deal fairly early. I'm not a fan of hers, though that's more to do with the next game.

Musse might well qualify as a Base-Breaking Character. Unfortunately, I'm on the "anti" side of that divide, though I think she can be funny at times.

Ash is easily the best character in Neo Class VII. You might like him; he uses a scythe.

And I'm glad you brought up Arhianrod. She demonstrates that not every woman in Ouroboros has a skanky outfit.

Yet Neo Class VII have a lot less conflict with each other than OG Class VII.

A lot of the party banter in CS games are super passive, it doesn't help Machias is like, the only member to get any friction, and he drops that by 2. It's part of why Estelle's my favorite lead, she generates so much energy on her own. Then you toss in Agate or Olivier, and it gets cranked up further.

CS would be a real slog sometimes if the localization and voice acting weren't hard carrying as much flavor as they can at times.

Agreed, Old Class VII is so passive. Machias and Jusis really are the only real issues and only in the first one. They even make a point to show off how good of friends Machias and Jusis and Laura and Fie are later... Rean and Alisa too but well...

Every member of New Class VII takes up the sarcasm role at different times and bounce off each other quite well. Thats not even getting into Ash being a spy, assassin, almost getting into a fist fight with Kurt in the prologue of CS 3 and in chapter 1 of CS 4 (god that was such a good scene in CS 4). Musse being Musse all the way up to the final daydreams of Reverie and Ash's revenge. Juna and 'the Crossbell problem' and so on. Like I am not even sure I was even playing the same game as ...

I meant they all became friends pretty quick, and there aren't any long-running fights between them like Jusis and Machias.

What actually do they do beyond chapter 2? Like they are almost the best of friends beyond chapter 2... Machias is like Jusis's staunchest supporter. Dorothee even wrote a Boys' Love book about it.

Meanwhile Musse vs Ash goes from their very first scene together to the very last as Student Council President Ash and Vice President Musse... God that whole Thors Open House Daydream really did its job in so many ways. Rean is like the Big Bad of the class right up until the CS 4 Fragments, even then Ash still has it in for him in a Soldots right until Rean blows his own engine in a fight in Reverie. Like New Class VII actually has dynamics in it and they arnt all collectively of the same mind like Old Class VII is from like CS 2 onward.

You talk like yaoi fangirls don't ship every pair of guys who fight with each other.

And Jusis treats Machias like crap through the whole series.

Machias does give as good as he gets. Their vitriolic friendship is built on hating each other.

@Memers. I'm playing on PC. It works fine on Console settings but I want high settings because I've been playing on the sprite games for TOO LONG.

Okay, I've been trying to figure this shit out, and it MIGHT have something to do with the shadows.

Hmmmmm... I might have to upgrade some hardware but this is a PC that can run Baldur's Gate 3 just fine.

Well I played the Switch version and the game ran completely fine on my end. I don't even remember a time where I experienced a frame rate drop.

The Switch version runs on less than PC's 'handheld settings' preset. Console settings is what you would get playing the game on PS 4.

the High settings are actually pretty demanding, especially in the shadows department and 'unlimited draw distance'.◊
