A thread to discuss the Trails Series of video games (known in Japan as the Kiseki series). Adaptations of the games are also on-topic.
As of May 2024, there is no specific spoiler policy for this thread, which means the the default forum spoiler policy applies. In summary:
- Spoilers for non-episodic works should remain tagged for a minimum of one month after the work's release.
- Spoilers for episodic works (including any DLC) should remain tagged for one month or until the next instalment releases, whichever is shorter.
There hasn't been much good news in months for people who want more Legend Of Heroes VI in English. Xseed has apparently been translating the second installment for PSP, but no release date yet, and they apparently have not had much sales success. Meanwhile, there have been no official statements about releasing the Windows versions in English.
But thanks to this Andriasang article, I learned that Aeria Games (best known for MMORPGs) plans to release the Trails in the Sky trilogy internationally on smartphones. Some online and social functions will be added to the basic gameplay. No clear indication of what international smartphone platforms just yet.

@Red Hunter 543: How qualified do you think Sara was?
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Well she has years as a Jaeger and Bracer under her belt so I’d say more qualified than Rean to teach at a military school.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Between CS 2 and CS 3, Rean was sent to Crossbell and other places doing the Government's orders. Piloting Valimar and demonstrating mech combat first hand and essentially being the Imperial Chronicle's fav person to brag about. That's putting aside his experiences as head of Class VII... which was essentially a student black ops squad in all but name.
Teaching Mech combat at a military academy is... the perfect job for him. The only person who I can think of that would do better would be Mueller. The fact he teaches History in the class room though.... is a bit like the PE teacher having to do it to fill time though although I suppose he has more first hand experience on the history of Erobonia than most.

Now that you mention it, I'd love to see a story about Rean's time in Crossbell.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Well then Trails of Cold Steel 3 is the game for you.
We've had a few hollers about unmarked spoilers in this thread.
There isn't currently a pinned post saying it's Spoilers Off — although we can always add one, if that's the consensus — so the default assumption is that spoilers should be tagged.
On that basis, if we see more reports about this, we may start to thump the posts they refer to. We would prefer to avoid that.
It would help myself, and likely others in this thread, if we had guidelines as to what needs to be spoilered. Should we be spoilering events from the last chapter for each game? Do we need to be stricter with the newer games than the older ones? How should we approach optional content like sidequests or bonding events? How much can we discuss about individual characters? I think things would probably run smoother if we were all on the same page about what's expected in this thread.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Maybe a folder with a spoiler warning, I do that sometimes, especially when it is a text wall.
Daybreak II coming to the Switch in Japan on July 25.

She/Her | Currently cleaning N/ACool, though iguess we probably won't get an international version until next year.

So, I've run into kind of an odd problem with Zero. I'm in the final chapter, and I've got the sidequest where you need to turn in at least ten unique dishes... and it turns out I've done a really bad job collecting recipes, as I only have eleven. I'm trying to get all of the unique dishes from the recipes I know, but several of them require fish fillets and I'm trying to remember where you even get those.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.I got you, first off for the recipes did there's quite a bit of ones that don't disappear in bookshelves.
Off the top of my head, there's one in the Fish guild, and one in the house of Elie's grandpa. You might luck out and get just enough to get the 2nd prize.
Fish Fillet can be found killing those fish monsters on the beach of Ursula road.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.I found the recipe in the fisherman's headquarters, and was able to scrape together enough dishes to complete the quest. And now I'm off to the penultimate dungeon. Anything I should be on the lookout for?
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.Okay, did you check in with Imelda? She has a quest that will bring you to a tough fight at the doll maker's house.
That quest comes up in Azure when evil bowlcut man and Campy come visit.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Out of curiosity Red. When will you play Sky SC? I heard it is much longer than FC, so you might need to be aware of that.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AWhen I feel like it. I might be getting Unicorn Overlord soon.
Thanks to RL getting in the way, Trails FC took me such a long time. Going to be a WHILE before I get back to Rean and find out how Osborne survived.
Anom promised that playing the Sky games will pay off. If Oliver doesn't get a big scene in Cold Steel 3, then I'm going to ding dong ditch his house.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Oh Olivier is much more prominent in later cold steel. But I don’t know about ‘payoff’ in Sky for Olivier specifically, it’s really the other way around.
Ouroboros, Erobonia, Calvard, the church, every party member that will be playable in the future and such yes.
SC is about 30% shorter than CS 2. There's a couple shorter chapters where there's no sidequests, so in some ways, it's not as dense as FC. And 3rd has no sidequests whatsoever.
Third is about as long as FC.
So, Redhunter is trying to get me into the series.
Which games do you think are the best for inspiration in regards to themes related to prejudice, moral values, systematic problems and such?
You can't really treat the games individually for that sort of purpose. That being said, the games don't really deal with prejudice, but Cold Steel does have a running theme of systemic issues due to the nobility.
SoundCloudYeah, it's not like Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy where each game is its own self-contained continuity. It's all one big narrative spanning 12 current games with more on the way.
You cannot firmly grasp the true form of Squidward's technique!Yeah...... I told you to stick to Zero since it's mostly self contained, and focuses on politics.
But Azure is where things go hardcore. And it ends badly.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.New character trailer for Risette.
She/Her | Currently cleaning N/AThere will be so many jokes about that name.
Nach jeder Ebbe kommt die Flut.
Jeez, don’t you need some actual qualifications besides being good at hitting things?
That is brought up even in the prologue, even directly with the students.
And considering the class and the categories he is to teach he is qualified... there is probably no one better qualified. But being 19, literal days after graduation, and teaching students only 1-3 years younger than him... yeah there are challenges ahead.
