I'm definately going to find that dragon on my third playthrough !
New theme music also a boxMan itemization in the game makes Bards so bonkers strong.
Wish I could get that helm of arcane acuity and that mystic scoundrel ring on the table top
I'd be onto a god.
Reminds me how crap bards were back in baulders gate 1 and 2,they've come so far since then
New theme music also a boxHey Bards are the OG Prestige Class.
once upon a time so were barbarians
New theme music also a boxI really feel bad for Ansur.
So on the Emperor. Do people believe him that he's retained his human mind and soul, or is he just a particularly deluded parasite?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Withers Aka Jergal confirms he's still the man he once was. And he's as close to an authority on the subject as one could hope for. The game never explains how this works considering that Withers also explains how becoming a mind flayer makes you lose your soul.
But clearly he's not the only one, since this can happen to the player or any of the companions too.

Ansur and Withers believe him and the narrator refers to him as "unique" so I do think that he is pretty much as described.
I must have forgotten that detail then, it's been a while.
I do recall there's mind flayer lore about a prophecy on how one of the turned mind flayers will retain their original mind and work to sabotage them all.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. What makes it even weirder is that the other independent Mind Flayer, Omeluum, does not consider himself to be his host as far as we see. He acts as one would expect, and considers himself a distinct being.
If you're already at the level cap, Ansur isn't too bad. Remember (if you care) that there's an achievement for getting the final hit while he's airborne.
