General Looney Tunes / Assorted WB Animation (that isn't DC) Thread.

I thought it was crazy a retro channel would be airing cartoons that recent, but then I remembered those shows are 2 decades old now. I feel old.

Their only rule seems to be no new commisioned cartoons.

Don't forget that he was responsible for "revising" The Hub to the more generic, safe, Reality Show-oriented Discovery Family, which is basically their offshoot of their other channels with similar programs, only aiming more to the "families can enjoy" demographic. At least we still have Discovery Kids... but only in Latin America.

Ah yes, the Great Hub Purge. Barely any show survived much longer past that... Save for one super famous My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic that outlived basically everything else on the network.

No wonder why I kept wishing more Executives were like Margaret Loesch... the SON OF A GUN FIRED HER.

At least My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, Littlest Pet Shop 2012, and Pound Puppies 2010 are still airing on Discovery Family despite all three having ended a while ago. Granted dunno if this is due to Hasbro still having stake in the channel and it is up in the air if those three are still gonna air after March 31st of next year (when Hasbro's agreement expires) unless they decide to renew Hasbro's contract.

Shame Zaslav's the reason why The Hub couldn't become as big as Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, or Nickelodeon despite the potential it had.

Margaret Loesch is really something special. She worked for Marvel Productions in the 80's, and then became head of Fox Kids in the 90's, and used her connections at Marvel to get the 90's Spider-Man and X-Men made.

She even remembered the 80's Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, on which she was a producer, and got it onto Fox Kids in the late 90's.

Yeah. She was one of the FEW Excutives who KNEW people artists knew better than she did and she asked them "Um, can you teach me how YOU do your job so I can learn and do my job better." I really love her.

Deadline is announcing that WBA general manager Ed Adams is retiring and some guy from unscripted is taking over.

The one and only bright spot in the midst of all this is Me TV Toons. And its a third party, if it was up to Warner Discovery, it too would be written off for tax.

I cant believe a decade ago it was VIACOM who was infamous for killing cartoons and creating increasingly awful reality shows.

Viacom is still pretty mid though.

Dont know what that means but ok I guess.

"Mid" is the "modern" slang term for mediocre/average.

Other than the huge news of Me TV Toons no.

But if it makes you happy there was a huge Bugs Bunny marathon that gave a Weigel channel its biggest ratings ever and Me TV Toons plans a similar marathor for June 27.

Will they call it "June Bugs?"
